“Worried? Why would I be? We have the Alpha, the greatest of the moonlight wolves. What’s there to fear?” Aphael allowed himself a rare smile, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “Confidence is good, Ren. But don't let it blind you to the dangers.” “Blind? No, no. But I trust in the moon, Alpha. Besides, it’s been far too long since I’ve had a good fight,” Ren chuckled, stretching his arms above his head, the easygoing nature of his manner infecting those around him.

As the falsehoods spread, the pack began to turn against Alpha Kael, their trust and loyalty wavering. When I heard the truth, my wolf roared within me. For an entire month, my childhood friend—Lucien Julian, the illegitimate son of the Silvercrest Pack’s Alpha—had been telling me the same story— how the other students at Central Wolf Academy mocked him, cornered him, and humiliated him for one simple reason—at eighteen, his wolf still had not awakened. A fist of dread squeezed my insides instantly. This is what he does to liars? The churning in my stomach grew intense while my eyes flew to him on their own.

I grunt as I stir my hot drink. “That’s what I thought but this alpha, he swears to the Moon Goddess that he saw one, during the battle…at this new pack.” “There’s no such thing as a white wolf. He must have had a knock to the head and seen something white in the distance.” White wolves were a myth, a fantasy. Something you tell children as part of a nursery tale.

Lydia said aloud as if trying to convince herself otherwise. Tania turned to her sharply, “No matter what excuse you all say, the truth is the truth. A weak Alpha has nothing to offer his pack, no protection, no safety, nothing. He’s just standing here like a figurehead while all of you ignore him and go about your activities. How long do you think the lies you told other packs can last? How long do you think the lies you all tell yourself will last? Forever? Soon everyone would know the truth of your pack’s delusion and then your pack would fall.” She told Lydia bluntly then turned away and commented.

BELLA I hesitated for a moment, weighing my options. If I revealed that Kai had lied, it could escalate the tension between our packs. But if I kept quiet, it could put my pack in danger. I decided to tell a white lie, hoping it would diffuse the situation. Through the mind link, I communicated my fabricated confirmation. "Kai spoke the truth," I said, trying to sound convincing. The room seemed to relax, with the tension easing as everyone confirmed Kai's intention for a collaboration. My father's expression turned thoughtful, and he nodded. "Very well, Alpha Kai. Thinking of another way, Riviera tries to link her mind with the Alpha, but his mind is all jumbled from his pack members' thoughts, and he keeps rejecting her. "Mom, tell the Alpha that the wolf is hiding in the old boat close to the shed." "What are you talking about? Are you feeling ok?" Mary-Kate presses a hand to her daughter's forehead.
