Victor's POV It was pouring heavily outside, the clapping of thunder and lightning beaming glinted on my father's face. He seemed more frightened than ever, as he stood there by the window, his eyes spelled worry while he held onto a nine millimeter in his left hand and a stick of kindled cigarette in the other, he was left-handed. The quiver of his fingers as he raised it to his lips and took a whiff of the cigarette before throwing the rest of it to the floor and stepping on it to kill the flames.

Lina sighed in defeat, though she couldn't hide the smile on lips. A low scoff had my eyes pulled towards the owner. The brunette met my eyes while raising his brow on me. It was the first time I really took in his features, I wonder what his name is. I always saw them collectively together which I assume they must have been really close with each other. I squinted my eyes towards him, assessing him before my eyes bulged. He's a Beta. But how can he produce that much aura which could go in par with an Alpha?

She shook her head and believed that Bashiri could not possibly know Valerie. “Explain to me how Alpha traits were who was with Valerie at that time!” exclaimed Serry impatiently. “Alpha is a big tall, handsome face with a firm jaw, sharp dark eyes, and tan skin. The aura is dark and also looks unfriendly,” Bianca explained and recalled the appearance of Alpha who was with Valerie at that time.

“Big words from a Beta.” Heather made an appreciative “oh no he didn’t” sound. Liam smiled. “Do I look like a Beta to you?” he asked softly. Gunner’s smile faltered. Because there, in the dark, with Collin’s snarl still vibrating the air and the wards thrumming like live wire and Liam standing naked and unscarred but somehow more dangerous than any of them, even Gunner felt it. My face showed a little bit of my expression. Noticing that she looked at me and tried to change the mood. -How about we talk about your life, first we should get to know each other a little bit. Those words surprised me a little with her change of attitude, it was as if she wanted to have something with me, but not so fast. I kept listening to each of his words. -You look like a Beta, but I can tell you're an Alpha, which somehow attracts me. Not that I like you.

Seven more Alphas arrived with their men: Colin, Neil, Martin, Craig, Paul, John, and Kyle. Aside from John, who was in his late fifties, the others ranged in age from twenty to thirty-five. John was another older alpha without a filter. When he and Alpha Bruce got together, it was always bad. They tended to feed off one another and could be very disrespectful, especially towards women. My mother disliked both of them with a passion.

I had yet to see someone without a lump of metal attached to their belt. “Who the fuck do you think you are to come here and start laying down rules?” Tye slammed his hands on his desk in rage. “Your Alphas mate. True challenges are done bare handed. Only a coward who feared their opponent would use a weapon.” I couldn’t help but laugh as he growled his eyes flicking between his own and those of his wolf.

“Aura isn't allowed in friendly spars. It defeats the purpose of comparing skill.” Trevon quickly pulled back his aura and apologized. But the real shock was how little Tyler had been affected by it. What kind of pack was this? Were they all this strong? It wasn't just them. Sullivan, Jamal, and Tyler were impressive, too. Sullivan was a future Alpha, sure. But Jamal and Tyler were just a Beta and a Gamma. And they weren't even that muscular. Did they have to be so overpowering?

“No pressure, then.” Corvin arched a brow. “You’re already under it. You just keep pretending you’re not.” Silence stretched between us, heavy with things I didn’t want named. “What happens,” I asked finally, “if the Alpha rejects the bond?” Corvin didn’t answer right away. He stared into his mug, jaw tightening. “Then the fire looks elsewhere,” he said. “And gods help anyone standing in its path.” My wolf snarled uneasily. I stood, heart pounding. “You’re saying she’s dangerous.”
