Olivia “Alvin?” I called out, leaning forward to get a better look at the supposed monster in front of me. “Is that you?” In the quiet stretch between one breath and the next, my world changed. The creature — Alvin, I was sure — froze as though he’d been struck by lightning at the mention of his name. This was Alvin, my childhood friend. I was sure of it now. In fact, as I looked at him, he suddenly didn’t seem so large and beastly at all anymore. He was just a regular-sized werewolf with a missing paw and a sad look on his face.

I stared at her blankly, and Logan was the person to crack up. "Effie, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are chipmunks, not squirrels," I say, trying hard not to laugh. "I know that. I was ten." She protests an argument. "I couldn't think of a name and thought of those." "That is a long-ass name, baby girl." "You're just making fun of me." Effie blows her cheeks and pouts at Logan. He draws Effie in his arms and plants kisses all over her face—Effie squeals and attempts to pull away as it turns adorable between them.

Oh this is just adorable. “He is called a bunny.” I told the chipmunk, hoping that it will learn something. “They can jump very high and they usually like carrots.” I saw the chipmunk’s face morphing into something like what a pervert’s face would look like as it looked at the bunny. The bowl flips over and a few other items fall to the ground, creating a crashing sound. My skill does not fail me as my heavy right paw cages the chipmunk to the floor. He trills and releases consecutive chipping distress calls. I laugh inside of Tyr’s head while he prolongs a lethal growl, slowly lowering his head to the rodent, baring his teeth as drool drops on the floor. The chipmunk squiggles and squeals to no avail. Tyr opens his mouth wide and takes the chipmunk between his canines. My wolf and I celebrated victory but it was short-lived when the light flicked on and the scent of pineapple and bergamot hit our senses. We froze with our back to her.

We stay in comfortable silence watching the stars and listening to the sea breeze when she turns to me looking at me expectantly. “what?” I ask her when she starts giggling. “I just figured out what to call you three” “this is going to horrible isn’t it” “okay I was just sitting here thinking what is the perfect name that will piss Matty off when I thought of the three amigos which is cool so no” “hey!!” “but then the perfect one came to me” “oh god”I shake my head but I can’t lose the smile on my lips. “from now on I will be referring to you three as Alvin and the chipmunks”

The dire wolf exceeded my expectations in its magnificence. The fur of the creature was a dark, smoky gray, and it was twice as big as a typical wolf.
