Medus snarls in my mind, startling me with the sudden attention. His reaction is instantly hostile, like he’s recognised something that I haven’t.
“I thought I saw you sneaking out here,” she says, smiling like we’re sharing a secret. “I’m Persephone. Who might you be?”
I stare at her and breathe in without meaning to. The scent that drifts towards me is wrong. She doesn’t smell like werewolf, not even close. It’s something colder, like frost, so sharp it makes my nose tingle.
