Hunters were such a pain especially when they were in a group of more than three. Anna had two daggers that Raphael gave her as a promise to always protect her. Now it was to protect the very family that was in exile. Erik had given Abbey a double edge axe as she loved to swing stuff around. She had learned very quickly on how to use it. Byron had thought to give Kaitlyn a short sword as her arms were smaller and she could swipe faster at it. Belle held the black obsidian spear Zephyr gave to her a few days before she had been exiled. It could retract and fold out when necessary.

"Besides, Skye will need help carrying everything back." My mother looked like she wanted to argue, but something in my expression must have convinced her to let it go. "At least take this," she said, pulling a small dagger from a drawer. The blade gleamed silver in the light, etched with symbols I didn't recognize. "It's iron and silver alloy, blessed with protective magic. If you encounter anything hostile, this will hurt it." I took the dagger, feeling its weight in my hand. It felt solid, reassuring. Reed grunted in surprise as she used the momentum to kick him hard in the chest, sending him tumbling off the bed and onto the floor with a heavy thud. Anabella rolled off the mattress in the opposite direction, scrambling to her feet. Her robe hung open, breasts exposed and thighs slick and glistening. She grabbed the silver dagger from under the pillow in one smooth motion and spun around, pointing the blade straight at him. “One more step,” she warned, voice low and deadly, even as her legs trembled, “and I’ll fucking hurt you.” Reed recovered fast. He pushed himself up slowly, eyes locked on her and a slow, dangerous grin spreading across his face.

Hans hugged Narcissa while Athena sat dumbfounded. “I thought, uncle, maybe I……….” Narcissa, her voice trembling, tried to speak but found herself unable to utter the words. They seemed to catch in her throat, stifled by an invisible force. Suddenly, Hans abruptly released his grip, and Narcissa collapsed to the floor with a resounding thud. A chilling silence enveloped the room as it became apparent that an iron dagger was lodged in her abdomen. “Cissy,” Athena’s eyes widened in absolute horror.

The hilt, wrapped in frayed leather, felt unmistakably familiar, while the blade bore cryptic etchings—symbols of the Cherokee and Choctaw tribes, intermingled with patterns so archaic that they felt beyond human comprehension, spirals that whispered of forgotten times.
