"By the way, how old are you? You're so capable. Have you been learning it for a long time?" Gladyce remarked with a disdainful chuckle. "Yes, I have been learning it for a long time. When I was born, I was doomed to do this. But I'm not that old. I'm 20 years old this year." Gladyce's heart thumped even faster when she said that. She wondered, "Will Anne tell that person one day that she has once received help from a girl in Country A and the girl is called Gladyce and 20 years old?"

Will raised his one eyebrow and she immediately realized she wasn't aware of that. “Well, definitely way older than me. You’re Nick’s father after all. But how old are you, master?” Anna batted her eyelashes, staring at him innocently. He just stared into her eyes before deciding to let her hair go. Anna sit back properly on her seat. “I’m 38.” She smirked as he told. “Then I can surely call you oldie. You’e almost 20 years older to me. It's a big difference, right?”

She said, “Thank Ms Brook…at what time did the kidnap happen?” He asked. “Uhmmm..(she cleared her throat.) I can't remember, I was 15 when it happened.” She replied, I was so shocked to hear that. “And how old are you now?” He questioned. “I am 25, I think.” She said and looked at Annabelle. “Why didn't you reach out to your friend all these years? Why now?” Alex asked. I tapped on him. “That's enough questions for today Alex, let her be.” I said, muttering underneath my breath.

I asked her, trying to fill in the blanks of this life that didn’t truly belong to me. Nana hesitated, counting on her fingers as if she were trying to piece together a puzzle. “Well, let’s see… you’ll soon be twenty-nine…” She trailed off, lost in thought. Twenty-nine? She really loves her nephew and niece. “Are you seriously embarrassing me like this?” Stefan asks as he approaches us. He takes a seat next to me, while Romano walks around the library searching for something, I’m guessing his drink and my heart accelerates.

The third listed a witness observing Aaron in meeting with unnamed conspirators at an unspecified location on a date that didn't correspond with anything else in the file. Someone had built a structure and removed the foundation after the walls went up. I pulled the census next. Found Anaiyah's birth record. Compared it with the execution date listed in the official file. Checked it twice. Then a third time. She had been nine. Not twelve. Not fourteen. Nine years old, and the official record had been carefully vague about her age in relation to the conspiracy, allowing anyone reading it to assume she had been old enough to understand what her parents were doing.

The minimum age was 13, and the maximum was 50, but it was rare for women to reach that age. I looked at the bloodstained arm one last time before turning away, fear burning in my stomach. There was nowhere to run, and I knew that if I made a mistake, my fate wouldn’t be any different from those poor girls’.

Anna whisper, her heart thumping loudly. They stare at each other, before her mum spoke up. "Don't just stand there, come give me mummy a hug." Anna scurried to her and pulled her into a tight, yet warm hug allowing the tears to fall. They hugged for what seems like forever until her mum pulled her out and spun her around. "You're 44 but you still look small." She tease knowing she has been away from home for twenty years, when she left she was just twenty four.
