It was something I tried not to dwell on. I sighed, running a hand through Devon's unruly hair. "I know you will, but listen to Annie, okay?" My gaze softened as I turned to their human nanny, Annie, who was watching our interaction with a patient smile. Her presence was helpful in taking care of the kids, even if it made me nervous that she was not a werewolf. She had proven herself reliable time and time again, and the twins adored her. "Don’t worry, Samantha," Annie said, adjusting Diana’s backpack straps. "We will have a great time, won’t we?"

“I am curious Annie. How good is Aaron Casey really? I had watch you and that man certainly is no match for Victor.” “What do you mean, watch me?” Annie asked alarmed. “The city life made you complacent Annie. You seem to have forgotten the most basic rule of Twin-Rivers. We know everything.” Anja was enjoying herself. Annie starts to realized her family home was wired. She suddenly feels very expose. Wrapping her arms around herself she tried looking out the window but it was so darkly tinted she can barely recognize anything outside.

"That is hogwash! Yvonne is of noble stock, but you are not! Your blood is filthy! You think a peasant like you deserves Mr. Solomon?" Yvonne was gloating. "She's right. I got the firm a deal worth 4.5 million dollars in a month. A nanny's spawn can never get that kind of achievement. I have a PhD in law from Bullings University." Yeah, identity theft. They did it through and through. "Yeah. Know your place, nanny! Stay away from your master!" "Yvonne, you can't let her stay! God knows what she might do! Judging by her expression, she's just as flabbergasted as I am. I take the moment of silence as we both realize who the other person is to really look at her for the first time. I can tell she must be nearly 15 years younger than me, probably in her mid-twenties, although “mid” was probably pushing it a bit; my contract with the agency specified that Sophie’s nanny must be over the age of 21, as I may have need of her to accompany her while she is attending a function with me that serves alcohol, but I’d be surprised if she was older than 25. She has a thin, tight body, and seems nervous. She also has long dark brown hair and a bold set of features that are striking, if not as conventionally

She leaned forward slightly before exhaling sharply against Jane's face, the action subtle enough to avoid notice from afar yet intentional enough to feel insulting. "That position," Annie continued softly, "will return to my hands." As she spoke, she slowly raised her fingers between them, admiring her own nails for a brief second before curling them inward. The gesture looked elegant, almost lazy, but Jane could feel the threat hidden beneath it. "As long as you leave that position," Annie whispered with another smile, "it will naturally fall back to me." “Johnny, show Anita the room.” Johnny frowned slightly. “What room?” Grace smiled. “The baby room.” Anita’s eyes widened slightly. “You made a nursery?” Johnny scratched his head. “Something like that.” Grace led Anita upstairs. Joan and Johnny followed. When Anita stepped inside the nursery she stopped. The room looked warm and welcoming. Soft colors. A crib. Toys. Blankets. Everything carefully arranged. Anita felt something twist painfully inside her chest. “You did all this?” she asked quietly. Johnny shrugged.

The sun rose sluggishly, its soft golden light bathing the makeshift classroom in warmth, as if reluctant to disturb the peace. The children were already waiting, some eager, others simply present because of their loyalty to Red. One girl, small and wide-eyed, raised her hand, her innocent curiosity piercing through the silence. "What is a dream, Anne?" she asked, her voice so soft it was almost swallowed by the rustle of leaves.

Anna catches me looking at her and heads to the kitchen but I'm right behind her. "Hey, you sure you're okay Banana" I say using the nickname I know she hates. When Jared and I met Anna and Laynie in high school, I thought for sure that Anna would be a stuck-up princess. I felt like I had seen her type before. Long blonde hair, cheerleader, wore makeup at a young age, but when she opened her mouth, she showed such charisma, such bravery, like she was fighting the world and easily winning. I wanted to know her better, I wanted to show her that someone saw her for who she really was, and liked what they saw.

Anna nodded, jotting down a line in her lovely pink notebook. In the afternoon, the wind is cool; it is not sunny; the air is gentle. Anna went to the library, sat down at a table by the window, and picked up the books from the table. Now, about half an hour from the meeting time, Anna wants to come early to visit the library of the most prestigious school in this city. The Medrano school library is divided into three separate sections, in which Anna is sitting in the third section, for 10th grade students.

I needed answers and I needed them now. I looked around to make sure no human eyes were watching and ran around to the back of her house. In the back yard facing the huge expanse of lake was a quaint stone table with comfortable chairs, appearing to be part of the landscape. Annie probably spent hours out here watching the lake, reading, or doing her homework. That is, before I came to town.
