“They haven’t let their guard down yet. We need to wait for the right moment. When it happens, Byrnn, climb onto the tree next to the window and drop to the ground, then run like hell.”
We wait for another few minutes. None of us speak, but I can tell from the set of Alec’s jaw that he’s nervous. As nervous as I am.
“Now,” he says.
Brynn takes a deep breath and shimmies through the window. She’s lithe and flexible, and in no time she’s on the ground. Alec and I peek around the window curtains as she starts running. The second she’s moving, the Silver Hunters whip their heads around. They pull out their swords, their bodies tense.
