There isn’t anyone who isn’t greedy and willing to use anyone as a stepping stone to achieve their goals.” “You are the naïve one.” I shook my head. “I don’t know what you have faced in your lifetime, but I pity you. I am starting to understand what makes you think and act the way you do.”

"To be honest, that was quite a terrifying experience. I've never been that terrified in my life. All this seems too good to be true." I hesitated for a second but walked through the door with Smith closing it behind me. It was dark inside and smelled of moss and wet leaves. The walls were covered with flowers and what looked like herbs. There were a lot of small plants scattered around the floor. Artemis stood before me and bowed holding his hand out in front of him. “My Goddess” he whispered. Smith looked at me with his eyes wide and mouth pulled down.

“Well, hellooo, sailor…” I blink. Artemis’s voice slides through my mind like silk soaked in mischief. “If you’re going to paint a mystery man, could you not make him this attractive next time? I’m about to jump into the canvas and lick his face.” “Artemis,” I whisper, slightly horrified. “Seriously?” “Have you seen his jaw? That’s not a jaw, that’s a sculpted promise. And don’t even get me started on those eyes. Blue like sin and sadness. He looks like he could ruin me emotionally and I’d say thank you.”

Tatum sits in front of Artemis, watching him curiously as she tries to hide her worry. It’s clear as day to anyone who knows her well. She is panicking. I lounge against the floor to ceiling bookshelf behind Artemis, trying to offer her whatever support I can to keep her calm. She did no wrong with Clem.
