"Get out here!"
Julian Thorne stepped out from the shadows of the basement stairwell, his shoulder bandaged, his face a mask of terror. He held a small, black remote in his hand.
"I told you they'd come, Arthur," Julian whispered, his voice shaking. "I told you they wouldn't just run."
"Of course they wouldn't," Arthur said, standing up. He was taller than Xavier, a towering figure of shadow and grey hair. "They're in love. And love is the most predictable variable in the world."
