Rileys eyes blinked open. She felt groggy and unsure of her surroundings, just like every other time she woke this past week. She couldn't remember where she was, she felt dirty and cold, she couldn't even feel her wolf Ava anymore. Her flesh burned with every movement she took. Was this a dream? Had it all been a dream? She looked around and noticed it was a dark room with no windows, like she was in a basement. The room felt wet and cold. She lay on a bed and noticed a metal chain attached to her ankle. There was a bedside table next to her with a glass of water and a bucket next to the bed.

Book Two: Fight or Flight Sweat dripped into Ash's eyes, momentarily obscuring his opponent. He shook his head to clear the cobwebs from the last punch he took. He ducked another jab and hit his opponent with a series of strikes to the side and back that brought grunts of pain from his opponent. Ashley ran towards them, desperately trying to free Aisha from Thorian's iron grip, but he remained unyielding. Panicking, Ashley took a deep breath and realized that she had an extraordinary ability to manipulate sound. She focused her energy, closed her eyes, and then, with a powerful scream, she yelled, "Let go of her!" The room was filled with a loud, echoing sound wave, pushing Thorian away from Aisha. Thorian stumbled but didn't fall, and his eyes now glowed a fierce red. Aisha dropped to the ground, coughing and gasping for air. Ash was thrown backward, his body hitting the ice floor with a heavy thud. "Ash!" Rhea shrieked, struggling against the invisible weight pinning her to the altar. "Are you okay? Talk to me!" Ash scrambled to his feet, his breath coming in ragged, whistling gasps. He held his hands out in front of him. The skin from his fingertips to his wrists was gone, replaced by a raw, blackened char that shimmered with violet embers. The "cold-fire" had eaten through his flesh down to the bone in a matter of seconds.

"Check your armor." "Integrated dampeners took the brunt of the kinetic shock," Asher said smoothly, though his voice had a tight, razor-thin edge. He pushed himself up, his golden hair disheveled, his tactical rifle instantly coming up to sweep the perimeter. "We’re at least six hundred feet below the permafrost level."

Ash’s eyes are deep red and his fangs are showing, he sighs, “Honey, show us how you use it on yourself, please?” Ash is gripping her hips, and she shakes her head to clear it and takes a steadying breath, and lowers the showerhead beneath the water. She feels the jet massaging her stomach as she lowers it further. She lifts her stomach with one hand so she can get the thing low enough. She twists a bit, and frowns,

Now Elijah in the name of fear. Not wanting to see myself anymore, I turned away from the mirror and began undressing. My own reflection has started causing my anxiety. Opening the shower head, I stepped into the water. My eyes shut in bliss, a contained sigh escapes my dry lips. The lukewarm spray hit my body, helping ease my sore body. *********** Six days had passed. My ribs were still sore but no longer painful as before. The bruises looked better but it would take a few more days, if not a week, for discoloration to fade away fully and attain my normal skin color.
