She realized then that Kael might not make it in time. She stood up, hidden by the shadows of the bar, and raised the diamond-studded pistol. Her heart was steady. Her breath was slow. The first Moretti assassin vaulted over the railing, his rifle leveled at Damien’s head. Before he could pull the trigger, a single, silver-engraved bullet tore through his chest.

A silence enveloped the room, too heavy for Nate to even hear Dante's panting. His eyes had been stuck on those slanted grey ones that seemed to have brightened excitedly. They parted, making way for a woman who walked in, and she looked really familiar. A smirk curved her lips, and it disappeared the moment she saw Freya behind me. She crossed her arms over her chest. "Well, well, well, if it isn't the runaway alpha who abandoned his pack." Axel frowned at her. She raised her hands in defense. "Lain Navier Edevane, long time no see." Freya stood beside me, sending daggers at the girl who was talking to me. Was she jealous? "Who the hell are you?" She giggled softly, but there was something dark about it.

"Alright ladies. It's time to hose them down." I stood, extended my hand to Michelle, she placed her hand in mine and I tightened my grip on her before dragging her up. We both stood at the side and watched as Mrs. Vee hosed the begonias. By the time she was done, we walked next to the tap she was standing beside and as I washed the mud off my hands, Mrs. Vee scrubbed Michelle's knees, elbows and hands with a small wash-cloth before washing her own hands. Then we all walked inside the house through the back door, and into the kitchen.

She truly was an assassin. “You are still a kid,” Elder Sand walked over to Aiden’s fallen body and said. He wasn’t so laid back because he didn’t care. Well, he didn’t. But he had utmost confidence in Eva and Marie. They didn’t have a 100% joint assassination record for nothing. “Eva is stronger than Marie. How could she have been shaken strongly by your first blow? Ellaine looked beside her and for a moment, she was distracted. Keisha lodges herself forward and kicks her in the face. "Fuck!" she screamed loudly, dropping the gun on the driver's side.
