The knife struck Connor's fingers and he immediately lost his grip on his gun. The gun flew out of his hand, far across the room. Connor flushed with frustration, turned towards the direction the Knife came from to at least see who threw the knife, and there she was—Onika steadying her balance from the throw.

They both shared words before walking towards the coffee shop. “Emily!” Blade called as he walked inside with his companion right behind him. “I’m right here,” I said waving my hands in the air to draw his attention.

I hear footsteps and then see two figures slowly approach us. It really dark so I can't make out their faces in the distance. No one outside of Ferro knows that I can shift. The look of bewilderment was all over the mens' faces, and it was priceless. I get up slowly while my eyes remain locked on the 8ft grey lycan waiting in the shadows. I mindlink him, 'I'm going to kill you slowly and enjoy doing it.' I snarled as the tall man with dark brown hair came charging at me. Once he stepped out of the shadows, I recognized him to be Gamma Trevor.

"Look at your hair clips!" Above them, the vent grate silently unscrewed. A figure dropped down. It was hard to see. It looked like a shimmer in the air, a Predator-style distortion. It landed soundlessly behind Olivia. The Faceless assassin raised a blade. It was made of glass—invisible, sharp enough to cut molecules. Jack burst through the door. "LIV! DOWN!" Olivia dropped. The assassin swiped. The blade cut a lock of her hair. Jack lunged, but he was too far away. The assassin raised the blade for a killing thrust.

“Then you take a weapon! Make sure you can defend yourself if needed!” “I’m going to,” revealing from my other pocket the tiny silver blade Declan had given me before leaving. It had been confiscated from Viktor, edged with silver and intricately carved; it was a small and lethal blade. Easily concealed, Declan had made me promise to keep it on me. I had no time to decide which possibility would destroy me more. Ty shifted his stance beside me, close enough that our shoulders nearly brushed. I could hear the controlled drag of his breathing, the deadly stillness he went into before violence. He did not tell me to hide. He did not order me back. Through the swirling mountain frost above, a shape finally detached itself from the upper dark of the staircase. It wasn't an armored titan. He didn't hesitate at the sight of the Hybrid Queen or the ruined Alpha.
