Ace said before he smiled at me. “Wait. She’s your cousin?” I asked in pure shock. I did not expect this on top of everything else that I had just learnt about her. My eyes blinked rapidly in surprise as I tried to digest this new piece of information. “When I came back to work at the company to take over as the new CEO, my father installed her automatically as my secretary to make sure that I would ‘behave’. Basically, she was acting like a spy that my father had sent. She would report to my father about every single little thing that I did,” Ace explained before he grinned at me.

She said as she opened the door and got out. “And text me if I don’t pick up the call! Bye.” I shouted from the car to which she showed a thumbs up over her head. I pulled out from her school and started driving towards ‘Martinez’s Company’. I have the interview for the position of the CEO’s assistant. The job is not foreign for me as I have experience of a few years. After a few minutes, I parked the car in the parking lot of the Martinez company. Taking a deep breath, I looked at myself in the rearview mirror.

He asked with a little smirk I wanted nothing more than to wipe the stupid smirk off his face "I can't afford to fix the damages to your car but I can pay you back by being a wonderful personal assistant to you sir" "That's not enough" He immediately said "I'll do anything. Please I really need this job" He looked pleased at my words "That's more like it. We shall continue this discussion later, for now, I need you to fetch me a cup of coffee" "Does that mean I'm not fired?" I asked "Are you retarded? Would I ask you to fetch me a cup of coffee if you weren't my assistant?" I had only asked a question, he didn't have to make me feel dumb.

"Okay, she is just 21 years old and honestly, she has no work experience yet!" "Are you fucking kidding me Carlo?" said Andrew, the Vice President of Carlo's company who is also one of the close friends of him. "Why don't you get someone who has experience since you don't have a time to teach her? An executive assistant to a CEO performs administrative tasks such as answering calls and writing memos. She also research and writes reports that can affect company policy, and is typically in charge of training and supervising other office staff. She should have Excellent Communication Skills, Exceptional Organizational Skills, Superb Professionalism, and Outstanding Collaborative Skills!" "You n

I just hope this meeting with Draco tomorrow comes out fruitful. "Sir you have a meeting with Mr. Enzo in half an hour." Selena, the receptionist who was filling in the place of Rhodes these days popped her head in. "Reschedule it, Selena. I am leaving for the hospital." I picked up my mobile phone from the desk and shrugged on my suit jacket. "Very well sir." She passed me her professional smile. "And how is Ms. Lucille doing?" She asked. "Recovering." One word, but still felt heavy on my tongue. It was something I had no control over. She was my baby sister for fucks sake. I was bound to get worried.

I said. "Don't you want to settle down in your company? I know Sofia is your friend but then...it isn't right to let someone else take over for a long time." He said. "She wouldn't do anything like that." "I know." He said. "She doesn't even have the power to." He winked. "Sofia is the acting CEO of the company and when it comes to meeting important clients and sticking out the memo's, it's all on me." I said.

"Yes." "Follow me. Mr. Vale's schedule is tight, so we'll need to keep this efficient." She led me down the hallway without waiting for a response, her heels clicking against the marble while she talked. "The position is personal assistant to the CEO. He's demanding, meticulous, and doesn't tolerate excuses. The last two PAs didn't last six months. Are you still interested?" I thought about the bills on the kitchen table and the way Shane's eyes had gone flat when he'd asked about the rent. "Yes."

I arrived at seven fifty-eight. The floor that housed the CEO’s office was different from the lobby and quieter, and it definitely looked more expensive; the stillness of the place shows that serious things happen in this place at a serious pace. The PA assigned to orient me, Bryce, efficient and pleasant, walked me through the layout with brisk thoroughness, showing she had done this before and understood the value of getting it done correctly the first time. My desk was outside his office. Of course it was. That was what an executive assistant was: the person positioned between the executive and the rest of the world, the last line of consideration before something became his problem or d

He maintained his quiet stance and took his food until a female employee came up to him. “You must be the new Secretary who embarrassed Miss Evelyn.” “Umm..yes… “I am the HR manager.” She cut in secretly as she stretched her hand forward and Luca took it reluctantly. “You should come to our table, the others have been talking about you non-stop on the group chat.”

She was eager but cautious, a combination I could work with. “I’ll get straight to the point,” I said, leaning forward and clasping my hands on the desk. “Cristainternational is ready to launch soon, but I’m not stepping away from my family’s company just yet. I need someone to act as CEO, to be the face of Cristainternational while I handle things behind the scenes. I want that person to be you.” Ashley’s eyes widened, her lips parting slightly into a smile before she caught herself. A flash of excitement danced across her face. “Me? CEO?” She questioned.
