He approached Lycus Lewis, who was in a state of death. Albus tore off Lycus Lewis's shirt. He could see that tendrils of black energy were almost filling Lycus Lewis's chest. Once his chest was perfectly black, his heart would explode and shatter. Lycus Lewis was dying.

“Do you know who owns this plaza? Charles White will have your heads for this!” But the moment she looked past me and saw the towering, terrifying figure of Kaelen Blackthorne standing in the shadows, her breath completely hitched.

The one who couldn’t save him. I squeezed my eyes shut as tight as I could, trying to will this moment to be an awful dream. The next time I opened them I was no longer alone. "Oh, sweetheart... wrong day, wrong queen."

“That a girl.” *** I stared at the cold silver metal. All flat edges curved and heated together. The fur only covering the center ring which was wide open through the middle. Big enough I could’ve crawled through it. Is that what this is for? My mind was working at a fevered pace. I crawl through and he spins it until I’m ill? I couldn’t imagine he planned something so painless for me. But it’s worth hoping. “Turn around.” He ordered. When I did, I saw he had heavy iron shackles in his fist. Where’d he get those?
