Antonio called through the smoke, his tone almost casual, as if this wasn’t the first time he’d come back from the dead.
Alessio didn’t answer. His jaw was locked, his chest moving like he was breathing fire. Behind him, Noa gripped his arm, his knuckles white, whispering, “Alessio, that can’t be him. He’s dead. You saw it.”
“Yeah,” Alessio said hoarsely. “I buried him myself.”
Antonio smirked, stepping closer. His boots crunched over broken twigs and glass. “Guess you didn’t dig deep enough.”
