And this time There was no mistaking it. This wasn’t a warning. This wasn’t a test. This was the moment everything came together. And there was no turning back.

I felt blood rush to my cheeks, my heart beating fast dramatically as I smiled back at him. I hope we all get along together......but little did I know that these people in front of me will one day be the cause of my destruction.

How can I argue with him on this when I know he was right? That moment my eyes connected with his predatory gaze, I knew I was his.

"You're going to tell him." "Yes." "Good." He pauses. "He'll stay." "I know," I say. And I do know. I knew it before I heard his voice message. I knew it at the corner table when he took my hand properly for the first time. I knew it in the amber hour at the river arch, standing at the lock that finally fitted the key. Some things you know before you have language for them. Some things arrive complete. I finish my tea. I go to bed.

And in this moment I guess he knew that this was him. Adrian’s jaw clenched, his fingers curling into fists at his sides. I could feel the tension radiating from him, like a storm about to break. But there was nothing left for him to take from me—not my heart, not my time, not my attention. I was done.

A sober feeling creeps up on me but I shrug it off. “I know he’s maddeningly attractive. I knew that the moment I saw him.”

He chuckled, "And at that moment, I knew that I am in love with her." I chuckled, "Really?" I asked and he nodded. "She just shook her head and you fell in love?" I asked but I got what he meant nevertheless, it was all emotions accumulating, one after another and at that moment, even as small and as meaningless as it may sound, it is when he realized it all. "Yes, at the moment I knew this woman is gonna have my babies one day." He added and I smiled, "And she really did." He mirrored my smile, "She definitely did."

I stared at him, and for the first time, I didn’t know what to say. Because deep down, I knew he was right. And I hated it.

That was when I knew it wasn’t a dream, wasn’t a trick of the light or some fading fantasy. And the moment that truth registered, my body gave out. Everything went black.
