I hated how raw my voice was, but the unshed tears tore at me.
Adelaide’s eyes watched me, as if she was trying to pull the truth from me by looking at me. “Yeah, we can. Come on,” she said finally, not pressing the subject. “Oh, and while we’re here. You’re Tara, another rogue passing through, not pack.” Before I could ask why, she continued walking. I followed her and as she stopped to speak to people, she introduced me as just another rogue.
