"They're glowing!" Aurora looked at her reflection in a nearby pool of water and gasped. Her eyes were indeed glowing, a bright yellow color that seemed to pierce through the darkness. Without hesitation, Aurora took off running, her wolf self propelling her through the forest at incredible speed. She felt free and powerful, her senses heightened as she chased after rabbits and squirrels. But as she ran, Aurora began to feel a strange sensation building inside her. It was as if her body was being pushed to its limits, her strength and speed growing with each passing moment.

The moment hung there, heavy. “You’re serious,” Aurora said, voice low now. “You’re actually doing this.” “I am,” I said. I didn’t raise my voice, but I made sure the whole room heard it. “Scarlet is Luna of this pack. End of discussion.” Aurora stared at me, her eyes glassy but hard. I could see the words forming behind her lips, but nothing came out. And then Callan walked in. Whatever was left of her anger seemed to collapse in on itself. She looked away quickly, wiped her face. Pretended like nothing had happened.

There was an underlying threat in my tone. What happened next was a shocker. Aurora got on her feet and slammed both hands on the table making the cutlery and plates clatter loudly. She leaned close to me, her eyes fierce with warning. "Read my lips, Leonardo. I'd rather die than let you take my son away from me." She warned and stormed away. I gulped, petrified at this version of Aurora I had never seen. She was as fierce as a tigress and her eyes looked like they were breeding flames as she stared at me in rage.

It was better to be upfront and straightforward in this matter. "Please, have a seat," Carissa told the two of them, after sending Lulu out. Aurora had changed back into women's clothing and was now wearing a crimson pleated skirt embroidered with golden butterflies. As she sat down, the skirt draped elegantly, the butterflies seemingly frozen in motion. Aurora wasn't conventionally pretty, but she exuded a strong presence. Locking eyes with Carissa, she spoke first, "Carissa!" Having been immersed in military life and killed enemies, Aurora thought her imposing demeanor would make Carissa falter. But to her surprise, the other woman's clear gaze didn't waver.

A mother's fury, ancient and unstoppable, burning away fear and resignation like morning fog. Aurora arranged the food with shaking hands, tears streaming down her young face. "Please eat something, mistress. At least for the baby. You need strength ." Their eyes met—Luna and handmaid, bound by loyalty stronger than pack law. Anna's filled with desperate gratitude and love for this brave girl. Aurora couldn't bear the intensity of that gaze. She stood abruptly and fled up the stairs, sobbing openly now, her composure finally breaking.

Rose The sun had only been up for a couple of hours, but Orion, Iris, Pru, Matt, and I were waiting out in front of the packhouse. This morning we were meeting a pack member named Zara. She was one of the Red Spruce warriors who were there after the first disappearance. The spring morning had a slight chill; our eyes squinted as we scanned the streets. Long auburn hair is the only description that was given to us over breakfast this morning.

Chapter 62 Aurora's POV "You look so beautiful," Aunt Giselle commented as she helped me with my make up and I couldn't agree less. "I didn't know that you were this talented, you should make a career out of this," I suggested, enjoying my new look. My wild auburn hair had been packed into a slick bun with some strands at the front curled to give me an innocent look.
