The autumn that followed was a long, slow exhale. The fierce colors of the bluff softened to rust and ochre, and the air grew sharp with the scent of woodsmoke and decaying leaves. The bustle of summer was a memory; the town settled into its slower, more thoughtful self. We did too.

Nova POV Today was the kind of day that was so beautiful it made me almost feel hope. The sun is shining, that late spring sunshine, where there is still a chill to the breeze but so long as you stay out of the shade it is perfectly warm. I love this time of year when the promise of warm summer nights is coming in and the new life of spring is everywhere. I was currently sat on a bench in my local park, looking at the boating lake stretched out before me.

Sola handed him a bag of food for the drive without comment. He got in the car and drove through the gate and was gone. I stood at the gate for a moment after. The September morning was cooler than August had been. The first hint of autumn in the air. The particular quality of the air in this territory at the turn of the season, still warm but with something underneath that knew what was coming.

She's a family to me. "I'm doing good. I finally moved on!" a deep sigh escaped my lips as I glanced at the surroundings. It was autumn. The maple leaves were changing in color. Our state, Vermont, had the largest growing maple trees. They changed colors around mid-September and continued changing through October. The shades of fiery red and golden yellow were dancing in the wind on top of the mountains.

She absently wondered if blue was his favorite color. The air was slightly chilly and the sky was gray. The sun would be completely gone in a matter of minutes, and Ru could smell autumn encroaching in the air. Soon, it would be October, and then the nights would really start to cool off.
