***"And she realized the story was a cage. So, she closed the book." --- ### The Awakening (The True One) **GASP.** Liquid flooded out of my mouth as I bucked upward. My lungs burned with a cold, chemical fire. I wasn't in a park. I wasn't on a desk. I was in a dark, cold room filled with the hum of a thousand cooling fans. I was naked, covered in a thick, translucent gel, and there were tubes—real, rubber and plastic tubes—plugged into my spine and my throat.

He smiled awkwardly at me. I looked down at my hand noticing I still had my hand pointed at my throat. I slowly laid my hand back on the bed. “You can let her go now, you may leave her room we’ve got it from here.” The two nurses bowed to them and walked out. I looked over at the other guy noticing how much him and this other alpha looked alike. His voice sounded deep it was kinda sexy I thought. Damn it. What was wrong with me! I felt my wolf begin to stir a little.

"Re-establish the connection to her terminal this microsecond, female! Or I swear before the high council I will strip your Luna status and exile your wolf to the waste zones!" By the first light of the morning phase, I awoke within the master quarters, my cerebral cortex screaming with deep vertigo and absolute muscle weakness. "Is your system stabilizing, Chika?" Lucien asked, his massive, scarred arms tightening around my frame to anchor my weight against his chest plate.

“And I swear to God Kalev. If you even so much as harm on hair on her head. Or on any of our heads…I won’t hesitate to swing this axe and cut off your fucking head.” “That’s fair,” I nodded. And before they could say anything else, I shifted. As we walked through the forest, I kept my distance. Orrin purred. He was finally close to Verity. Verity was asleep though, completely spent. I led through the forest towards the secret passage to the safe place. And then she woke up. Her eyes opened. She was still alive. My heart surged. Orrin forced the shift. He wanted back inside me so he could wait for Verity.

I had to make sure she didn’t lose herself completely to the bloodlust. But as the dawn broke fully over the horizon, the invaders’ numbers began to dwindle. Our people were relentless, and the Lupinarians were an unstoppable force. Slowly, the enemy’s lines began to break. We were winning. That was until an unexpected twist showed. I was still watching Ravanna when I saw her hesitate. In a blink she shifted back, naked as the bone she was born. I took off my shirt and walked to her, but stopped in my tracks when I heard her whisper, "Lilith?"

Behind her came a group of reinforcements from our pack, their eyes darting warily around the gathered Awakened. “Aurora!” Lily called out, slightly out of breath. “I brought the book from your room, and several others I thought might be relevant. There's so much we need to decipher.” As Lily approached, I felt a strange pull coming from the center of the clearing. My eyes were drawn to the altar where the Awakened had been performing their ritual. There was something there, something hidden… Without fully understanding why, I walked towards the altar. Then, the voice orders me, it's small and unnoticed but it grows more and more insistent, bringing me back to consciousness with each second that passes. My eyes open and a gasp escapes me, all at once, the pain returns. It consumes me, totally. I have no true beginning and no true end. The pain is all that I am. I let out a scream. My body feels like it's on fire, and everything hurts.

Eden’s POV I awoke with a start. The sun was bright. I squinted my eyes to shield them. My head was groggy. Where was I? “FINALLY, you’re awake,” a voice said. “You’ve been unconscious for two days. Two. Whole. Days. Lazy girl. Time to get up!” Slowly, I opened my eyes and the room came into view. I was back at the palace, in my bed. The maid was puttering about, watering the flowers on my bedside table.

“Then it’s started.” I tilted my head. “What has?” He reached into his jacket and pulled out an old book, the leather cracked and worn with age. He handed it to me. “Read that. It’s a journal from a former Alpha—one who claimed to have encountered the Lunari before they vanished.” I opened it carefully, the pages yellowed and delicate. “They talked about the awakening,” he said. “A moment when the bloodline reclaims its magic. It begins slowly—energy, visions, changes in perception. But it grows. And once it’s fully awakened… you won’t be able to hide anymore.”

Professor Valtorius stood tall at Raven's side, his hands hovering in the air, creating a faint yet powerful protective layer. "You will not touch her," Valtorius' voice sounded cold and commanding. The figure grinned, the corners of his lips tugging with a confident gaze. "Nothing can stand in the way of fate, Professor," he said, his voice sounding like a whisper from the deepest darkness. "Elara has awakened. I have only come to bring her back to where she belongs." Raven felt a shudder run through her body.
