What was happening? I needed to call my father.

Enough. I step closer and the air shifts. The nurse gasps softly as a familiar green flame begins to move from my skin. I inhale deeply, focusing on the burn deep within me. It fills me with awe and pride that my parents are still warriors, as though it hasn’t been two decades since they last saw this kind of fight. Still fight in unison as one and watch one another’s backs. Seeing them this way raises my determination to do this and make them proud.
