Awkward Flirting Novels & Stories

How sometimes, the tables just seemed to turn unexpectedly. I could see the other alphas forcing themselves to make conversation with him, I could see him smiling at them, as if they've been long time friends. I looked at him, entranced and then I blinked and forced myself to look away. If I didn't have a conversation with him. It was going to be nothing but all shades of awkward. I walked over to him and took his hand up in a handshake. I could see the amusement that flashed through his eyes as his hand covered mine completely. Panic began to well up in my chest. Goodness, there was no way he could think of flirting with me openly, in front of all these people, could he?

It was the rich, sophisticated type of lively. I walked to the punch table and grabbed a glass. “Careful, we don't want you spilling that on someone.” I looked up at the audacious Edrick, who wore a demeaning smirk. “You really can't mind your business. Can you?” I fired. Edrick reached for a glass too. “Not when it's you. I can't help it.” “Edrick Vale. Are you flirting with me?” I placed my palm on my chest, faking surprise.

Julia made a big show of wiping her mouth before both of them burst into laughter. I shook my head, not taking their jesting seriously. “I froze. I couldn’t help it. He was so—I don’t know—gorgeous, beautiful, handsome. There aren’t enough adjectives to describe him. You guys know I always freeze up. It was nothing new. I have no game. I suck at flirting.” I made a pouty face. “I’m going to be a spinster and have thirty cats.”

He pulled me into his arms and high-jacked my seduction, taking charge as he kissed and caressed me, slowly, making me moan in desire. “I hope you don’t regret this when you wake up sober in the morning.” He told me teasingly as he kissed me passionately. I couldn’t recognize my voice anymore, I was screaming and moaning like a pornstar as he kissed his way down to my boobs and flirted with me, teasing me nonstop.

I ask before I can kill the words for ever existing. “That’s a matter of taste, which you still lack.” He laughs. “Flirting is much simpler. People are people. They want to laugh, to blush, to know you’re interested in them. Nothing more.” Finally, one of the larger logs starts to smolder, putting off a plume of smoke. “The gentleman we’re talking about—” “No. Questions.”

I blurted. Awkwardness, a dance of missteps and misunderstandings, where words stumble and silence speaks volumes. It's a delicate balance between humor and discomfort, a canvas painted with shades of embarrassment and uncertainty, creating a tapestry of human vulnerability and imperfection. ‘I don't want to be here!’

Despite my years of etiquette classes, I never knew what to do with women when they did this. I glanced down at the book. “I’ve read this, and it’s good, but not quite as good as dumping a douchebag.” I tried to keep my tone friendly, noncommittal, but for all I knew I was flirting back. For all my lessons, flirting wasn’t exactly something I’d been trained in. She smiled and touched her hair, batting those eyes at me. My brain scrambled for something to do, because otherwise I had a feeling she was about to give me her number or—

He was glad she wasn’t into all the flashy and flowery material women seemed to crave but all his efforts to please her were in vain. As he bent to kiss her on the lips, she gave a slight turn of her head so he kissed the side of her mouth instead. “Well honey, aren’t you full of surprises today,” he teased. Having managed to catch her off guard, he wrapped her in his arms and gave her a long kiss on the mouth. She was too stunned to react in time to stop him. Several men chuckled and the single women sighed as if imagining he was kissing them. When Jake let go of her, he shot her a triumphant look. She looked flustered and then furious.

She said, pushing away and added, “He deserved that. Normal, healthy flirting is okay, but creepy looks and creepy flirting is a no no.” “What is healthy flirting?” I asked her standing before her. “Ok! Now watch carefully.” She replied and slowly walked towards me with a small smile and different look like a mischievous look. “Shall we go for coffee Handsome?” She asked, trailing her finger on the table. “Uh... um... yeah, sure.” I replied stuttering. “This is healthy flirting or that’s what I think.” She said, shrugging and turned to walk away. “What about coffee?” I asked her.

"Come on, loosen up." Letting out a sharp exhale, I reached for his hand. I’m bored, my throat is drying, and Valerian is a pain in my cute ass. "Has anyone already told you how beautiful you are tonight?" he asked, guiding my hand to his shoulder while barely touching my waist. "I’m allergic to flirting, Atticus." He chuckled, flashing his veneered teeth. "It’s a fact. Actually, I don’t flirt with my friends’ ladies. It’d break the bro code. I don’t want that. They’d send me to hell."
