BURNING EMPIRE
Dominic stepped out first, nodding at a tall man waiting by the gate.
“Matteo, stay close.”
He didn’t need to say it. Matteo had no intention of straying today.
The man at the gate looked dangerous — sharp eyes, scar along his jaw, one arm full of tattoos. He gave Dominic a respectful nod but eyed Matteo like a threat.
“This him?”
Dominic didn’t answer.
He just walked forward.
Matteo followed, heart thudding harder with every step.
They entered a building that looked abandoned from the outside — all peeling paint and rusted doors — but inside, it buzzed with activity. Men packing crates, counting boxes, murmuring fast into walkie-talkies.
