I clear the wardrobe jungle just in time to see Baxter lifting the bar on a rear exit door, then vanish out into the night.
But I have my second wind now. Slapping up the bar again, I'm hot on Baxter's heels, the double-doors banging back against the wall as I charge out from between the leathers and furs and into the darkened alleyway.
Cold and snowy it might be, but Narnia it ain't. I find myself in a narrow passageway, barely wide enough for two people to pass. A mere conduit between one building and the next, it's a brick-walled world of trashcans, piping and alley cats...
