Tears from my eyes. The man hovered above me, his silhouette blocking out the light coming from the window, his chest rising evenly. He had no shame and remorse. He didn’t look at me like he’d done something wrong, because to him, he hadn’t. In his world, he’d claimed me, owning me, he spent a fortune on me.He was a beast in a man’s body.

His speech and articulation had been very advanced for a four-year-old, but after pouting and frowning, he finally looked his age. “But running away won’t solve the problem. She’ll still tattle to your mom,” Ed said. He didn’t know who Rosemore was, but he followed the conversation. AJ smacked his forehead. “You’re right!” Reluctantly, he grabbed his bag. “What’s your name, mister?” AJ asked. Curious before they parted. “Just call me Beast.” Ed pointed to the scar on his face. AJ laughed. “You’re not as bad as the beast,” he said.

But our conversation after that was great. I ran into him a few more times around the town over the next few days, and we got to know each other. We bonded after that, and he introduced me to Barley. Barley was the Papa Bear of the group. An older, jolly fellow, taller than most Lycans, but with a bigger gut than them too. Yet, seeing him in battle was like watching a child on Christmas morning. I had never seen such a large and round man move so quickly and fluidly with as big a smile on their face.

The growling is loud enough to make the ground shake , he is out for blood . Within a second both my brothers are in their beasts and standing by my side . Ratniks beast is as tall as mine but not as built as mine; he has a grey stripe running the length of his body . It's Gideons beast that catches me by surprise as it has been so long since I have seen it . His beast is just a slight bit taller than both ours but again is not as bulky as mine , and has a blue tint running through his whole coat. As soon as they both nod to let me know they are ready I let out a howl and take off with them closely on my heel …

I cry as I force my body to crawl forward. His skin is as pale as theirs, so I know they sucked him dry, but I still have to check. If there is any way he is still alive, I have to try...I get inches from him, but just as my fingers reach for him, I am yanked up into a set of thick furry arms. "Stupid humans," a deep, gravely voice growls, and before I can even respond, the beast takes off. His long paws pummel the ground, and the forest zips past me. Motion sickness mixed with my grief turns my stomach, and I vomit instantly. He snarls as my puke hits his pelt, but he doesn't slow down.

His heart was frozen, filled with tar. He was a Beast. And nothing would change him. He was a skilled manipulator. One that made you doubt yourself. More than physical torture, he aimed for mental one. A part of me was worried. Even scared for this man with warm eyes. He looked like he hadn’t faced the darkness of this world. Like he wasn’t tainted with the filth I was sinking deep in. For some reason, I wanted to keep it that way. ***

Before Dominic could step forward, a massive, black-iron battle axe swung through the fog, smashing into the stone pillar right above Regnar's head with a shower of deadly sparks. Out from the mist strode the leader of the heavy division a monstrous, scarred bear Beastkin named Vane. He stood over seven feet tall, his massive torso covered in thick leather armor and heavy iron plates. His dark, wild eyes locked onto Dominic, a malicious, guttural laugh escaping his throat.

Usually, her energy was a roar of fire; here, it was a dim, protective shimmer, struggling against the absolute zero of the wasteland. She saw him a mile out. He wasn't standing on a balcony this time. He was part of the landscape. The fragment had used its "Update" power to fuse with the ancient machinery of the vault. He stood ten feet tall, draped in a "cloak" of scavenged steel and frozen cables. He looked less like a man and more like a Primal God of the North. As she approached, the "Beast" turned. His eyes weren't gold or violet. They were a flat, terrifying glacial blue.

Bang. Gunshots rang through the building. Her mocking laughter echoed in the warehouse, mixing with the sound of gunfire and sending an eerie chill through the hitmen. “She’s too fast,” a man from the Raydim gang said, fear etched on his face. “How can that little bitch be this strong? Like she’s possessed by the devil himself.” He turned back, ready to shoot, but was buckled to the ground in an instant. “Hahaha, amazing,” I heard that all-too-familiar voice. “Really? Is that how amazing you think I am? I never knew you thought this highly of me.”

Water dripped down his chest, each drop tracing the lines of carved muscle that looked like someone sculpted him from stone. Broad shoulders. Deep-cut abs. A V-line that should’ve been illegal. My mouth literally fell open. Xavier leaned lazily against the doorframe, arms crossed, towel tightening around his waist. A slow, sinful smirk curved his lips. “Looking for me, sweetheart?”
