“Here, Daddy.” I laid down next to them, and when I started to weave a story about the animals on the ceiling, Naomi linked our fingers together, while Becky laid her head on my arm. Just like that, all the stress from the day was gone, and I knew that no matter what, I was never going to miss another bedtime story.

Diane was still out of the room and I wasn’t sure when she would be back. Once Enid was back in bed, I settled on a small stool by her side. I told her a bedtime story – a simple fairy tale about a brave wolf pup who found courage even when in trouble. My voice was barely a whisper, cracked at times, but each word seemed to soothe her. Her eyelids grew heavy, and after a few minutes, she was curled under the covers, eyes closed in peaceful sleep. I pressed a kiss to her forehead and stroked her hair. “Sleep well, baby. Mama loves you so much,” I whispered, turning off the light. The small room was plunged into darkness except for the pale slivers of moonlight drifting through the light curta

"Mama. Dada. Luna sleep?" "It's 7 PM, baby. Way past your bedtime." "Story first?" "Always story first." We followed her to her room—no longer a nursery, now a full toddler room with a big girl bed she'd recently transitioned to. "Which book tonight?" Alexander asked. "ALL books!" "We're not reading all the books. Pick three." "Five!" "Three." "Four!" "Deal. Four books." She selected them carefully. "Hungry Caterpillar. Wild Things. Good Night Moon. And... this one!"

he commented as he took a step forward. Shoving every single thought that was crossing my mind to the farthest place, and swallowing any comment that I could have made about his appearance, I cleared my thoughts. "That's because that's exactly what is going to happen. I'm going to read you a bedtime story,” I said confidently. However, I realized how absurd that sounded as soon as I said it. Can you believe it? The Night Reaper, in his pajamas, having a bedtime story being read to him. The universe would have had to gamble some of the ozone layer just for those words to even be placed in that order.

"Serena, Mr. Prescott said you misunderstood." She bit her lip and held the book out to me. "This is the book he reads to me every day. If you're not comfortable with it, you can listen in too." I looked at her and didn't take it. Her voice dropped lower. "Mr. Prescott is really tired, you know. Could you stop pressuring him?" I smiled. "Ms. Hayes, do you know what I'm best at?" "I'm best at making people cough up everything they've swallowed, with interest."

After tucking her in and covering her with the comforter, Iliana spoke. "I want a bed-time story mother." "Your father will read one to you. Adam, please read our little dart a bed-time story." Brenda said as both Iliana and Brenda made puppy faces at Adam. "You know I can't refuse you both when you make such faces." Adam said as Brenda and Iliana started laughing. "Okay, okay, be quiet and let this father tell you both an amazing bed time story." "Yes father." "Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom, there lived a beautiful princess."

Yuna almost burst out laughing. … When it was time for bed, Yuna lulled the two kids to sleep. Laying in Yuna's arms, Nathaniel soon fell asleep. But Nathaniel was still awake. He said, "Mommy, you can stop now. Bedtime stories are for Nat. I don't need to hear them." Yuna closed the book and touched his forehead. "Are you not able to sleep?" "Yeah. Mommy, did you have a fight with him again?" Yuna froze.

Go and sleep, okay? It's already getting late and you have to go to school tomorrow. You won't be able to wake up on time if you do not go to sleep now." George agreed and went to bed. "But, who will tell me a bedtime story now that you're busy?" George asked. Elena assured him, "Of course, I will." Leaving her laptop, she went to sit beside him on the bed and began to tell him the same story she had told him every night. When she saw that he had begun to sleep, she put a cover over him and helped him lie down. Afterward, she went back to what she was doing.
