Just remember, if you don’t want things to go bump in the night, don’t tell anyone else about them. Even now the shadows in my room play havoc with my subconscious, so I turn the light on and sleep with one eye open. Also, when my computer starts to go on the fritz just as I write a particularly spooky part of a story, I chuck it up to chance and swallow a little harder before checking to make sure that I have only one shadow. It’s amazing that I still get so scared as an adult. You sure would have thought that for someone who makes a living scaring people, I would know better, right?

She just wanted to leave this place as soon as possible. Travis Blake suddenly stopped, but he didn’t put her down. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly as he said, “Are you afraid of watching horror movies? What about ghost stories? Imagine countless hands reaching out from the cemetery graves in the middle of the night. They grab your feet, and behind the tombstones lie the ghosts of the dead.” Hailey looked at Travis Blake, horrified. With such a blank face, this man was talking to her about horror movies and ghost stories in a cemetery!

The red-clad female ghost had once slaughtered an entire room of players in three seconds, then hung their corpses upside down from tree branches with red silk, creating a forest of dangling bodies. The Scissorhands monster had skewered more than a dozen people together, stirring their organs with his blades until they dissolved into a pile of flesh. As for the warden, he locked each team inside separate rooms and released over a dozen ghosts among them, forcing them to betray one another in desperate attempts to survive. Willing to break the silence again, Stone cleared his throat before asking, “what the hell is even a soul harvester? That sounds so made up.“ Everest chuckled at his plain disgust, “It’s a terrifying bed time story parents of the Gareth pack would tell their kids in order to put the fear of the unknown into them. It was, still is, our version of the boggie-man*.” Stone nodded, his calculative look returned. “But how do you know it isn’t real? Most bed time stores are myths and most myths are very real.” He waved at the four of them, “most humans think we are myths.”

As a child, the haunting tales Mom wove for us in the candlelit hours of the night were something I looked forward to. Stories filled with brave heroes and creatures of nightmares who sought to destroy castles and claim lives. Little did I know then, the true monsters of this world are so much more terrifying than what the darkest depths of our imaginations could conjure up.

She asked with a grin in his direction. "Better," he laughed. One time he had helped her in arranging the entire library with his magick. She was impressed. "Mama Bora, you look as beautiful as ever. I - I have a favor to ask." When he stopped, she waved her spongy, withered hands at him in a gesture to go on, "We are doing a project about local lore, myths and legends. Do you have any book suggestions on it? Especially something that talks about with nightmares or dreams?" He sounded too vague even to himself, but Mama Bora's eyes became dazed for a second and then clearer as she nodded to herself. "Also one about shapeshifters."

His parents attended an important dinner function at the Moonstar Hotel by the Bay View Area and they told them that they might come home late. A slight breeze blew from the West. Old folks used to tell in their bedtime stories by the fireplace that this is an ominous sign. They say that vile creatures hunt for their prey during these times. Mark knew all about this since he is an avid fan of mystery-horror stories. Yet he told himself a thousand times that evening these are just figments of his wild imagination. Nothing horrible is going to befall his parents. They are both good souls and God is watching over them from above.

"Too scary daddy!! Tim declared and hid himself under the quilt. Leon followed suit. They covered themselves and didn't even let their head out. Allen stood up and went away. The story was indeed scary and that was all he could think of and quickly made up to tell them. Aren't they the ones who wanted a bedtime story before they could sleep. He sat on the sofa in the sitting room. And less than twenty minutes later, Ms Dorothy walked out of the room. "Are they asleep?" Allen asked and Ms Dorothy nodded. "Since I don't know which fairy story their mother told them halfway, I sang them a poem and they drifted off to sleep. But eldest master, that story you were telling them was indeed scary. H

I darted my eyes away quickly-- "You promised," Al said all of a sudden. "What?" I paused in surprise. "No question asked," Al smirked, holding out his hand to me. I was grateful that he didn't ask into it. Night fell. So the thing about horror stories is that-- The fear kicks in only at dark nights when you are alone, not when you are at the crowded theater or on the bright street. Meaning-- I couldn't fall asleep that night. Turns out it's a bit hard to fall asleep when you don't close your eyes because you feel the need to stare at everything with alert.

Mira begged her mum with her tiny little voice as her mum was about to put her to bed "Okay dear, I'll tell you something very different, it's a mythical story and it's a bit scary" her mum said "Yeeeee, I love scary" Mira raise her little hands up happily "Okay listen," her mum started as she took a seat beside her little child's bed
