Beau A few hours later after using Zoey’s dryer to dry our rain-drenched hoodies we changed and found ourselves entering a coffee shop. The scent of coffee, sugar, and pastries assaulted me. Along with the scent of weed and incense. It reminded me a little of how Bri smelt when she first came to us. Wyatt’s glance at me told me he thought the same. We knew where we were, the girls had spoken about it in front of us but for the scent of such a place to be embedded into the essence of our beloved Bri, meant it was special. Much like the swamp had since found its way into her essence, mingling into all the beautiful fibers that made Bri who she was, whatever she was.

POV: Callum | Rookeries, various locations I find out about the foreclosures from a woman named Bea who runs the laundry on the Rookeries' main street and who has been running it from the same building for eleven years, which means she was there before the war and before my father died and before any of this began, and she is telling me in the flat precise voice of someone who has already moved past shock into the territory of needing to know what comes next.

"Are you ready to talk to me now?" My mouth fell open when a ball of emotion curled up in my throat and refused to budge. Ignoring him, I moved to crush the discarded weed stick, but he caught my foot, scooping it up before I could make contact. "If you are going to be my breeder, you will need to get used to the smell of weed," he said smugly. "It's part of who I am. I’m Romano Carlos Bermudez, the don of weed. Don’t you ever forget that, my angel."

I didn’t care, but I didn’t want the locals trigger-happy and putting down innocent animals. The moon hung high and full overhead. Two women ran along the trail with LED running lights around their upper arms and they both gasped when I passed them. I hid my speed as much as I dared. Let them think what they wanted. Like I could be an Olympian runner. I didn’t care. I needed to find that omega. Her honeysuckle and light cinnamon scent drifted on the wind like a thread among the pollution of the city. I quickened my steps and I didn’t care who saw me. The urge to find her squeezed my chest until I felt like I couldn’t take in enough air.

“I suppose I should be grateful that you have the biggest ego of anyone I’ve ever met and took us out of the game early. I might have met the same fate as Charles.” Brady rolled his eyes. “If I hadn’t stepped in, were you going to attack the ball with your knitting needles or something?” Bev folded her arms, annoyance boiling up. “You don’t have to be rude,” she said. “Just because you’re apparently famous or something doesn’t give you the right to treat people like that.” She should have stopped there, but she was on a roll. “And I’m pretty sure Cecelia could take you down without even trying.”

"Of course, I don't want to see that revolting invalid." After me, Bex started dating Dylan, one of Aqueela's numerous friends. And from my perspective, she actually treats Dylan with respect. I can't help but be a tad bit envious over that. "Good news," Bell chirps excitedly, "she dumped Dylan!" Most insensitive person I know...other than her brother. "Probably because he's about to lose everything," I tell Bell bitterly. Bex has never been after someone for the right reasons. She's self-absorbed. She doesn't care who she hurts along the way. I can't believe I ever fell for that trap. I can't believe it took me so long to see the truth.

Not that I don't believe in love, but was it really possible for your heart to beat to someone without Weaver's intervention? "Are you done?" I asked Doom as he ran toward me. "Woah!" he exclaimed. He was wearing a broad smile on his face and twinkling eyes, "I just saw a dragon's nest. A baby Bakunawa hatched before my very eyes," "Of course, what do you expect in this base?" I replied, rolling my eyes.

Because Becky had a guilty conscience, she ran away as soon as she heard Shamayeta's call. Out of confusion, Rex inquired, "You know that baboon's a**?" Forcing out a smile, Shamayeta admitted, "She's my cousin back from my hometown." Baboon's a**. What an awful analogy. Although Rex wasn't referring to Shamayeta, those words pierced through her ears as if he was talking about her. Fine. Becky's makeup style has always been like that. She really does resemble a monkey's bottom. Recalling Byron's words, Shamayeta badmouthed Becky intentionally "She's a bad girl. When she was in junior high school, she fooled around and had an abortion! The next time you see her, please avoid her."

Jackson said sarcastically. "Stupid!" "Hey!" Jackson was angry. "You just said I was stupid!" "You're a fool, Jacks." Dimitry rolled his eyes. "I'm not stupid!" “Then you don't really know Beverly. Beverly is a different woman than most. If he wanted, he could just steal your cell phone and complain to his brother that you kidnapped him. If he wanted, he could just blow your head off with a grenade. Or bombard your heart with an AK-47. Why did he have to complain to his family? Did you know that Beverly has been testing all the weapons that come from her sister's company? "

It was the kid who got thrown on our table the other day. "You know them?" asked the girl. Like Loki, this kid is quite famous. Her name is Bee, probably the prettiest girl around. And she is one of those girls who are obsessed with feminism. She hates men so much that she sends any guy partnered with her to the infirmary in seconds during our self-defense lessons.
