The Alpha’s Heat
“It was here.”
Her gaze flicked to me then, and her eyes were wrong again. Not white this time, but darker just like something was standing just behind them, wearing her skin.
“It’s close,” she said.
I wanted to hold her. I wanted to drag her far away from here. I wanted to do both at once.
Instead, I said, “Then we end it before it finds what it’s looking for.”
Her lips curved in something that wasn’t a smile. “What if it already has?”
