"What nonsense are you spouting? Eva is our pack's Beta. She came to me late at night to deal with matters of the pack. What's the problem?" A mocking smile tugged at the corner of my lips. "I didn't know handling pack matters required her to dress like that." At my words, Liam turned his face away. "It was urgent. Dressing like that is perfectly normal." At that point, it seemed Liam had found a suitable excuse and pointed at me with clear disdain. "Lily, your mind is filthy. You see filth in everything." Watching Liam argue with me, Eva shrank into the corner of the sofa.

Come on, in you go,” She chided, nudging me towards the door.

Recognition flickered across his face. “Ambitious.” “Unrealistic,” I corrected. “Not necessarily.” That caught me off guard. Adrian stepped back slightly, creating just enough distance to think clearly again. “I have connections there,” he said. My heart skipped. No, no, no. This was exactly the kind of situation I had promised myself to avoid.

Arc symbols glowed faintly in the stone like veins under skin. “This doesn’t look like a lab,” I whispered. Damien shook water—or whatever that substance was—off his hands. “No. This looks like something we shouldn’t be in at all.” A low rumble vibrated under our feet and traveled up through my spine. The floor lit up with intricate geometric patterns, forming a symbol around us—like a seal had been activated the moment we arrived. I turned slowly, taking it in. “Sector Zero wasn’t a backup lab,” I murmured. “It was a foundation. A core.”
