And every time I leaned closer, I hoped to catch something, anything that sounded like coordinates, a name or even a riddle that might help me get my children back. Instead, all I ever heard was nonsense. Nursery rhymes, chopped up phrases or maybe madness. Right now, I honestly didn’t know which was worse. I turn on my phone and I’m scrolling my contacts. I found Ben’s number and call him “It’s ringing!” I say. Lena points her eyes to mine and smiles “Hey It’s Ben… please leave a message when you hear, Beeb!” The voicemail says. “Jeez!” I mumble. “What’s wrong?” Lena says. “I don’t think he wants to talk to me anymore,” I say as I highly sigh. “Try again!” Lena says. “Alright…alright!” I say as I call Ben’s number once again. “Still a voicemail,” I say. “Well... you tried!” Lena sighs as she strokes my hand.

Can I hear his heartbeat, faintly, or is that someone else’s? “Ben, please, come back to me,” I repeat over and over again. “Please!” It seems like forever passes before I hear the sound I’ve been waiting for.
