Mr Benson let out a sharp breath. “Well, just don’t make a habit of disappearing. You know how much I rely on you.”
“I know. I promise it won't happen again.” I said, giving him an understanding nod.
“What about me, Mr Benson. Do you not rely on me?” April asked playfully.
“You scare my young readers away, April,” Mr Benson said, causing us to laugh. “Just stay away from scandal too,” he added.
I laughed as I headed toward the tall bookshelves with April trailing behind. It was a relief that he didn't prolong the matter. I wonder what I would have done if he sent me back home.
