He'd told me about his fear of heights and I'd told him to just put his hands on the railings and close his eyes. I'd tried to demonstrate for effect. He'd refused. I'd laughed. His finger was cold and placed on Alex’s warm lips, managed to send shivers down his spine. “Don’t touch me,” Alex immediately shuddered, stepping backwards. “Would you allow me walk you home if I promise not to?” Alex moved even more backwards. “My home isn’t really a walkable distance.” “Doesn’t matter,” Seb replied him. “I’ll walk you to the bus station and at least ensure you get on the right bus safely. Don’t object. You barely know your way around so just let me.”

This conversation was proving to be quite interesting as he waited patiently for me to respond. I smiled as I placed my hands in my lap and laced my fingers together. It was now my turn to call his bluff. I turned my body slightly towards him and with great confidence I responded. “I didn’t say I think I know what scent it is. I said I know exactly what scent it is.” He smiled at my response but still didn’t believe me. “How can you know,” he asked. I shrugged my shoulders then challenged him further.

Someone who would no longer be controlled by fear or obligation. Someone who would fight back.
