Best For Book Clubs の小説・ストーリー

Being alone with a good book and alcohol or caffeine is the best feeling in the world, probably better than sex. The next day, I walked into Monet's and met a group of ladies who were fine as hell. I was relieved to see that there were no men here. At least if there was going to be a man, he should be gay, and we all agreed to that. We were six: Cindy Bellman, Aisha Mohammed, Drew Finch, Jessica Boston, Lexi Hale, and me. We were just six beautiful ladies who loved to talk about our favourite books and rant about how J. K. Rowling is a bitch for her transphobic tweets. Sometimes we'd just go out to have some fun. We weren't just a book club; we were a sisterhood.

“Except for the new Nesmir Christie book, they did.” “Darn it, that book is the one we need to boost our new membership drive.” Her boss sounded aggrieved. “We did get the new books by Devlin Geris and John Rood.” She held up a copy each of the two writers whom she considered among the best in the business. “Hm, I suppose those will have to do.” Hamby shrugged indifferently. “We could get them to do a reading here at the library...” Doris looked at her boss expectantly. “Or at least one of them, John Rood maybe... ”

They entered, drawn in by the aroma of well-loved books and the faint rustling of pages turning. A pleasant bookseller approached them as they surveyed the shelves, their eyes wide with wonder. "Are you looking for anything in particular?" she said, her voice kind and welcoming. Lucian grinned. "We're open to surprises; what do you recommend?" The bookseller's eyes twinkled with enthusiasm. "Ah, then, let me introduce you to our Book Club, which meets here every week to engage in fascinating literary discussions, and you're welcome to join them." Lucian and Ravena gladly accepted the offer, intrigued by the thought of participating in conversations with fellow book enthusiasts. The next week

As I perused the books, I could feel Aidan’s gaze on me. The shop, much like the one downstairs, boasted an impressive selection. These were books to be enjoyed in the coffee lounge, not purchased or taken home. A smile tugged at my lips as I reached the romance novel section. So, Well Thumbed had these too. I wondered if they had hidden gems, perhaps something I hadn’t read or that Uncle Alex’s book club, Bound To Please, hadn’t discovered yet.

Klein stood in the middle, his voice booming as he read paragraphs of p**n like material, and I squirmed in my seat. “Thank you all for coming,” Klein said. I watched everyone get up, and walk out in pairs, men and women, women and men alike, their hands and body clearly screaming to do one thing. “Did you have fun?” “Oh God,” I gasped, turning back to Klein. “You scared me.” “I am sorry,” he smiled. “What do you think?” My lips parted. “I think…it was amazing.” The following weeks, I came to the bookclub, dressed up and left needy. The literary erotica was picked for a week, and then Klein would dissect it in that awesome voice of his.

“Toke and I share a similar taste. We both belong in the same community of-” “Writers,” I quickly cut in, scowling at Chike. “We met in a book club,” “When did you have time to join or go to a book club?” Felicia looks at me with raised eyebrows. “It’s an online book club, like a community of readers,” Chike adds. “Oh, that’s nice,” Felicia expresses. “Toke loves books more than any other thing.” The conversation changes as they bring up another topic which is discussed for some time, and before we know it, two hours was gone.

Other than my bestie, April of course. I can see the woodland straight in front of me and a lake, it’s serene and tranquil. Perfect for sitting on the deck and reading a book. I’m a huge book nerd and at the moment I’m in my classical era and currently reading Anna Karenina. One of my all-time favorites but it is an epic.

As they entered, the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, followed by a section offering meals. The space inside featured book displays, a reading area, a lounge area, and a selection of creative products for sale. What caught Mindy's attention most was a promotional wall near the entrance displaying a poster of the book "Seven Days". There were bold words like "Best-seller", "Popular", and "In Demand" plastered all around it. Inside the reading section, "Seven Days" occupied the prime spot on the central book display. Most of the readers in that area were holding copies of it.

"Why? You want to start one?" I nodded. "I was thinking of opening a book café." Nyx and Eloise exchanged a glance before bursting into laughter. "Oh, honey," Eloise giggled. "Alpha rank kids don’t care about books." Nyx nodded. "If you really want to make an impact, open something elite. Something that makes people want to be a part of it." "Like what?" I asked, suddenly interested. Eloise smirked. "A luxury boutique. And not just any boutique. Make it exclusive. Have an elite membership club attached to it. The richer and more powerful they are, the more privileges they get."

I said with a smile. Her eyes lit up with recognition. "Oh! You're the Gonzalezes! In the Miller beach house! We're so glad someone is finally living there year-round." She leaned in conspiratorially. "We have a weekly book club. Tuesdays at ten. We're starting a new mystery next week. Nothing too taxing. We'd love to have you." A book club. The invitation was so ordinary, so wonderfully mundane. For a moment, the old Gwen surfaced—the one who scheduled meetings with senators and orchestrated multi-million-dollar legal strategies. But she was quickly quieted by the woman I was now.
