In the middle of the desk was a slim silver laptop that was closed. To the back of the space was the bedroom. The king-sized four-poster bed was covered in luxurious dark blue silk sheets, and there were two matching nightstands on either side. I could see a door on the far wall that must lead to a bathroom.

I pushed myself up to sit, the sheets pooling around my waist, and shifted backward until my back met the cool headboard. My eyes shifted to the lamp on the nightstand. I reached out, fingers brushing the switch, and clicked it on. Warm yellow light flooded the room instantly. I squinted hard, turning my head away with a slight grimace as the brightness stung my sleepy eyes. After a moment, I glanced back toward Liam’s crib, the soft light now illuminating his peaceful form.

The library at ten PM was a different room than the library at eight-forty-five AM.
