The characters of this book are fictional, I apologize in advance to whoever may seem in line with this story. This book was from an original idea of mine, which means I did not copy any ones work. Any story that may have resemblance to this is a mere coincidence.

There was a roadblock, nothing else, and that was happening again and again. Just how sharp was this criminal? He was someone with money and power. He had to, otherwise the way he mopped his way perfectly clean was out of the question for any other fellow, knew his way to this kind of thing which said he indeed did this kind of or similar things before. A first-timer couldn’t be this wise, wrapping all the evidence so flawlessly. There were no mistakes, and for the first time, my heart was saying it wasn’t Brian. There was more of the story than just an accident, and somehow I knew I wouldn’t like it when I found out the truth.

The horrifying scenes of the murders and blood in that building where we were held hostage haunted my mind and caused goosebumps to break out in my body. After long, depressing minutes of crying out my pain and nursing the deep wounds of betrayal, I staggered up to my feet and held out my phone towards the board. I clicked a picture of the plan board and grabbed the files and pictures. As I began to walk away, my eyes caught a large book peeking out of the drawer. I paused and shuffled back, then pulled the drawer open. The book fell out and I bent closer to take a closer look at the book. On the cover, it was written HISTORY AND ETHICS OF THE SCORPIO.

I checked the book title and synopsis. The synopsis promised a thrilling tale of suspense set in a small coastal town where secrets lurked beneath the surface. Intrigued, I settled back into the pillows, propping myself up against the headboard. As I delved into the first chapter, the words whisked me away to a world far different from my own. The characters came alive in my imagination, their struggles and desires captivating my attention. Page after page, I became engrossed in the story, forgetting about the troubles that had plagued my sleepless nights. The author's vivid descriptions painted scenes in my mind, transporting me to the coastal town where the mystery unfolded.

She said jokingly as she threw him the key. He unlocked the restraint and stayed still, unable to move because he knew it would be pointless to try and attack her, much less try to run away. He looked at her, eyes stared widely at the half filled glass with no ice. His eyes moved past her tired eyes and studied the room. The shelf that was at his right was filled with books that were arranged according to the genre and most of them were fictional, thriller and horror novels whose seal hadn't been opened and only seemed to collect dust. The others were based on psychology, anatomy and various poisons. He felt more anxious than before.

He returns to the office just in time, only to find his client waiting impatiently. As Welbeck begins his presentation, he feels more anxious. The client seems distracted, and Welbeck has a hard time maintaining focus. Suddenly, the client gives him a strange book and asks him to read it. Welbeck was taken aback by this sudden request but decided to comply with it, thinking it might be related to the project they were working on. As he tries to make sense of the mystical knowledge gained from the book, Welbeck finds himself drawn into a world of conspiracies and secrets. He soon realizes that he's not the only one who has stumbled upon the book's hidden secrets, and his life is in grave dang

They were being observed, manipulated, and there was nothing she could do to stop it. Inside, the four of them felt the creeping weight of paranoia. Every glance, every hesitation, every half-spoken word carried a thousand possibilities. Trust fractured like thin ice underfoot, and each of them wondered silently who would break first. If the person behind the messages had returned after ten years, if the victim might still be alive, then none of them were safe. I stood properly and raced towards the shelf of books. My hand trembled violently as I punched in my passcode and then removed the stacks of books. Beads of sweat were already rolling down my cheeks. As soon as the door opened, I rushed to where the safe was kept and unlocked it, scattering all the neatly arranged documents and files I had collected from Payton. I kept searching for a particular document as I scattered the others on the floor. "No...no... It should be right here, this can't be happening." I cried out. My voice was dried, and I could barely make out what I was seeing. I went over the files again, carefully this time, but still did not find what I was looking for.

There was something about the desperate edge of the drawings — the handwriting, the spirals in the margins, the fevered layering of pencil over pencil — that felt too familiar. Not like he’d seen it before. Like he was already living it. A final page: Two figures. Back to back. One made of flowers. One made of knives. Below it: “I thought I could keep them separate. That’s how they trick you.” Noah shut the book. Hard. The sound echoed against the concrete like a threat. He stuffed it back into the drawer with too much force and stumbled backward, knocking into a metal cabinet. He didn’t leave right away.

Twenty seconds. Emma’s mind raced. She had no training, no preparation. But she did have one advantage: instinct. She twisted the dial on the device, sending a sharper, higher-frequency pulse into the room. The shadows shrieked, a sound that was both audible and psychic, reverberating through her chest. Ten seconds. The pulse surged again, and the taller shadow lunged—but it moved wrong, uncoordinated. It faltered, then collapsed into itself, dissipating into a swirl of mist that evaporated into the storm. The others recoiled, retreating to the corners, confused, unbalanced.
