Aiden’s men were being wiped out faster than Blake could even take in. There were a few signs of hope. One of them was Samuel, Caleb’s brother. Blake watched in admiration as Samuel fearlessly fought off hordes of Kyle’s men, down below. He seemed to be as good a fighter as his brother, and few vampires were able to get close to him.

The countdown inside Alice's mind felt increasingly deafening, exactly 60 days until the zombie apocalypse. “Clara, listen to me just this once,” Alice said, leaning forward and gripping her friend's fingers tightly. Her gaze was sharp and piercing. “You have to cancel your flight next month. Stock up on food, ammunition, and barricade your house. The zombie apocalypse is real, and we only have two months left.” Clara stopped moving her cup, then chuckled softly before looking at Alice with a worried expression. “Alice, you're starting again. How many days have you gone without sleeping? Your nightmares are getting worse.”

He froze in place and shallowed his breathing while he looked to see two more walking not far behind her. He was grateful that his leg had stopped bleeding heavily and that he’d gutted the deer so that the smell of its blood would overshadow the smell of his own. Even if it was only a small amount of blood oozing from him at that point, the breeze was blowing in their direction and he didn’t trust that the zombies wouldn’t have picked up on its scent, had the deer not been there. After all, they may look like a human, but their humanity was long gone. They were mindless, unmerciful predators who were driven by animal instinct.

A lot of the remaining merchandise is scattered around the floor or turned on its side on its shelf, having been overlooked during the first couple weeks of the zombie apocalypse. I thought it would tear her apart, but Yvonne rolled out of the way, then she snapped up a metal pipe and smashed it down on the zombie.

I lifted my head to see what happened to Apocalypse. To my surprise was there a big hole in the ceiling and lots of debris and rubble mixed with wooden beams. I got up and walked over to what was over of the ceiling. I heard some groans coming from under the debris. Apocalypse was barely alive and stuck under big stone pieces and wooden beams. “You have to do better and more than this to stop me, you pathetic woman.” She coughed and spitted a clot of blood.

[Juliet's POV] The music at the celebration party continued. Surrounded by a crowd, Alison basked in the crowd's repetitive praises. Suddenly, a deafening boom came from the city walls. Overlapping growls and roars of zombies tore through the atmosphere. Terror erupted instantaneously. People in the crowd screamed, "It's a swarm of zombies! A massive swarm of zombies!" A guard ran over, staggering along the way. "The lightning barrier on the right of the base has been breached. There's a massive gap. Zombies are coming through soon!"

She summoned him with her hand to follow her out of the room. She’d barely closed the door behind herself when Ebenezer began to speak with breathless urgency. “That evil boy of mine has my great, great, great, great, grandson. ’Tis time to call for help.” To her sorrow and dismay, he told of his frustration over being helpless to do anything for Edwin and Tim when they were taken by Malcolm’s vampires. His voice choked with emotion when he relayed how Tim’s neck was snapped just before he was about to give Malcolm the information that Edwin so stubbornly refused to give. She shuddered as he told of the vampires draining Tim’s blood before taking him to a pig farm in the Hamptons and tossin
