Romans & histoires Big Brother Is Watching You

he said, his tone laced with disdain. I sneered, meeting his gaze. “You think this changes anything? You’re playing a dangerous game, Grey.” He stepped closer, his face inches from mine. “This isn’t a game, Frank. This is justice.” Behind him, a screen flickered to life, showing live footage of Gabby’s son. My stomach twisted. Grey noticed my reaction and smirked. “Oh, yes. We’ve been watching. Did you really think we wouldn’t find him?” “You’re making a mistake,” I growled.

“Pregnant?” Liam scoffed, driving his palms deeper into my throat. “Yeah, we know. News spreads fast, huh?” “Better snuff out the sad little life now before it dies during labor,” Isabella cooed, shaking her head. As if my baby and I were just a couple of ants to be squashed. Through the haze of pain, I saw them—William, Isabella, and Vanessa—standing in a loose semicircle, watching. Not just watching, but… smiling.

Faced with such a bizarre incident, everyone held their breath and stared intently at the screen. But the person withdrawing all the money in the surveillance footage was me, Caitlin Howard. A shiver ran down my spine as I recalled those eerie images. Snapping back to reality, I finally came to my senses. Right now, that same elderly couple was sitting before me again, hesitating as they prepared to open their bag. Panic surged through me. I immediately stopped them. "Wait! Are you here to make a deposit? How much?" Their eyes welled with tears as they choked out their answer, "Five million dollars. This is our daughter's surgery money."

My stomach twists and my heart begins to race as I watch the surveillance footage of my mother watching TV in my childhood home. How do they have this footage? How did they get cameras in her house? Is she okay? Are they going to hurt her? "Please don't hurt her." I plead, having my voice come out as a whisper as I watch my mother with fear in my eyes. The woman smiles at me in satisfaction before turning the screen back around to face her. "Your boyfriend Jack cares very much about you. Quite shocking to say the least, considering he's crazier than some of the made men we have here. " she says, laughing as if she were reminiscing on some type of sick and vile memory.

“Is your computer password protected?” “No sir. You should be able to get right on it. Are you familiar with the Big Brother program?” “Yes sir. My father uses the same one.” “I’d like to view the sparring match between you and Lucas. Could you look for that first?”

Brandon stood by the window, sipping orange juice, his gaze drifting to the street below. The sight of men parading outside his home, some posted by the apartment door, others stationed in a van across the street, unnerved him. He wasn't used to this level of surveillance, this constant reminder that his life had changed. Britney, sitting beside him, scrolling through her phone after a long day, seemed unfazed. She had already adapted, looking as if she’d been accustomed to this level of attention for a long time.

He quickly went to Brianna to hear her explanation. Logan looked at Carson, "Investigate this, and I need the result tomorrow!" He ordered. "Logan," Gabriella called him. Logan quickly approaches her in the bed. "Do you feel something, Gab?" Logan asked with concern. "Don't forget I'm still here, Logan," Brianna talked. Logan looked at Brianna who had her smartphone pointed at them. "I just want to record both of you so I can forget you more easily, and if I don't get what I want, I will send it to your family, Logan," Brianna said.

Jacob replied. He tapped the keyboard once, then again. “It pushed through.” A cold feeling slid down my spine. “What does that mean?” “It means he’s not just watching,” Jacob said. “He’s broadcasting.” I stared at the screen. The camera angles were tighter than before. More focused. Less about general security and more about… tracking. People. Movement. Patterns. Us. My stomach dropped. “He’s locking everything down,” I whispered. Jacob nodded once. “Yeah.” My mind raced.

Like I wasn't even human. Eventually one woman looked at me. "So Jenny." I met her eyes. "Yes?" She smiled. "How does it feel?" I frowned slightly. "How does what feel?" Her smile widened. "Watching your husband spend so much time with another woman." The group burst into laughter. Even people nearby looked over. I heard whispers. I felt eyes on me. The humiliation was intentional. Calculated. Cruel. My fingers tightened around my clutch. But my expression didn't change. Not even slightly.

“Ooooohhh! The Real She-Wolves of Anderson Pack is on. Tonight is the reunion special!” She hurried to the living room to turn it on. I grabbed the food and wine and followed her. “How can you watch that show?” I asked, as she searched for the remote. “It's brain candy.” “It's brain rot.” “You are one to talk. Bryant told me that you watch it, too.” “I do not.” She narrowed her eyes at me. “Andrew and Bryant watch it, not me,” I said defensively. “You sit in the room with them, Nick.”
