It spreads its wings.
Froze mid‑beat.
For one long, outlaw heartbeat, the bird hung there in the air like someone had hit pause on only that frame.
Then it jumped forward three inches, wings already half‑folded, landing on the next section of wire.
The rest of the world hadn’t hiccuped with it.
Cars still drove past.
A kid on a bike rolled by, oblivious.
