The Song of Us

The Song of Us

Selene and Fenric both turned their eyes toward it. Now that they knew there was a traitor in the estate who had freed Zirion and was not necessarily under Vanessa's command, they had to be extra careful. So, Selene stopped the maid who was serving them the food and said, "Get the physician here to examine it." When the physician arrived, she had him test the dishes. Sure enough, it was just as she had expected. The physician reported, "Ms. Wyndham, there is indeed some unusual substance in this food. It's sweet, but there's an unmistakable hint of subtle bitterness. The food is laced with Stingnet Weed, which grows in abundance in Canmir."

BOUGHT BY CRUELEST ALPHA

BOUGHT BY CRUELEST ALPHA

She misses the noise, they confided about me. I found the bird by the weeping statue. It was a common sparrow, or it had been. Now it sat on a crystallized branch, its beak open, but instead of a chirp, it poured out a perfect, heartbreaking symphony. A composition of pure regret, each note the sound of a specific, lost chance. It was beautiful. It was a violation. A small life, rewritten into art without its consent. Arthur finds it fascinating. He stands for hours, listening to the bird, his head cocked, a scientist’s curiosity on his face. “The harmonic structure is impossible,” he murmurs. “He’s not just altering its song. He’s rewriting its soul’s frequency.”

Eagles

Eagles

I ask, although I know the answer. “They were just pawns in the hands of those who are looking for us,” she claims, smiling sadly. I remain silent, taking advantage of Sebastian’s tactics, waiting patiently for her to continue speaking. I feel that this is just the beginning of something I don’t want to be a part of at any cost. “They are called eagles,” she announces. “They seek out everyone with rare DNA and bring them in.” She clenches her teeth for a moment. I see pain and fear in her eyes. “I don’t remember how old I was when they found me. As a matter of fact, I don’t remember anything that happened before I got to Eagles,” she admits in a trembling voice. “You have no idea what we h

The Slave Queen

The Slave Queen

He's taking his hair out of his braid, with his back facing me. He nods his head. "Yes." There's a single feather strung in his long black hair; it's a beautiful red one, probably plucked from the backside of a cardinal bird. I take a look at my surroundings. I'm blown away. My mouth falls open at the sight. A giant waterfall surrounded by trees and wildflowers and weeds sprouting out of rocks like little bursts of happiness. Birds sing in the trees loudly, and the music of locusts and cicadas rings in my

The Alpha's Exchanged Mate

The Alpha's Exchanged Mate

The ambiance of this high-end restaurant brought a different kind of peace to me, the serene environment and the shallow waters at the back of the restaurant, which had an overview of the mountainside directly bordering the night howlers and sizzlers territory. The blue flowers rarely grew in the winter but somehow found a way to preserve themselves in the summer. The green grasses and the sound of crickets roaming around them, they screech and search, maybe for the clarity we all do. The birds fly around trying to build nests in the tallest trees in harmony, the back and forth movement they make, and how they occasionally settle on the ground to pick up a piece of stick and fly back up.

She could only imagine how destructive their wings could b- "Twinkle, Twinkle, little star~!" Kiran gasped and snapped her head toward the nests in front of her. She found Noorh already sneaking into the first nest, right behind a squealing hatchling. Noorh must have thrown the orb on the nest, breaking the glass and releasing the soundwaves it captured. What Kiran didn't know was that her voice would be amplified to the point that the entire mountain seemed to grumble in distaste at the sound of her screeching falsetto. She couldn't believe hearing her voice echoing against the pained shrieks of giant baby snakes was going to be more embarrassing than singing solo in Music class. Kiran winc

The Troll Queen's Bride

The Troll Queen's Bride

Nature curls up and dies at his touch, and my hand burns cold where it meets his, like freezer burn. My wing stains shift their birthmark shape, and I wonder what they will look like tonight. Canary, eagle, sparrow, hawk. Perhaps some kind of owl. I’m feeling vaguely vespertine. I have an Audubon Society book that I’ve used to decipher the port wine stain shadows. Like silhouettes of avians in flight against an iron sky. It is my favorite feature. Samael pauses as if eying a reliquary. “What?” I say.

. "Anything else?" Amaris asked as she tried to memorize the map before closing her eyes to concentrate. "No. Any intell you can get us will be helpful." Amaris nodded. Alexis took the map and folded it away and backed up. Amaris closed her eyes and concentrated. Immediately a red fox and a northern goshawk. The fox ran into the woods immediately. The hawk sat on Amaris' arm for a few moments. It had a dark back and wings, and a white under belly with thin black stripes. It was beautiful. It spread its wings and flew up into the air. The bird did some circles over head and then headed in the same direction that the fox did. Anna came running over as the bird flew away. She l

Saved by the Alpha

Saved by the Alpha

The voices of the Gamma and Beta, the scent of my blood, the call of death lingering on the horizon, all blocked from my mind as I concentrated on relishing the sounds of my beloved woodland one last time. Songbirds filled the air with joyous twitter. Leaves rustled as they tumbled to the ground on the sweet spring breeze punctuated by the soft patter of paws as tiny forest creatures scurried about their day. I savoured every sound as if it was my first time hearing it because it would be the last.

it's sad to invest into a story that is good and they leave you for 3 weeks or more not finishing the story. I thought that on these stories they have to be updated every day. or at least every other day. come on let's finish the book already

This book is terrific but I think there may be something wrong with the author. I would hope that it would not just be abandoned when then the author has so much talent. Has anyone checked to make sure everything is ok with author instead of posting negative comments!!!

Three Little Birds

Three Little Birds

"Wanna sit on the swing while we eat?" I nodded and smiled around my cup. "Sounds perfect." We ate mostly in companionable silence as we watched the birds dance around the trees. Along the power lines sat three bluejays, one sitting slightly further away than the other two. Almost as if it were ostracized from his mates. My heart fell a little at the sight. The lone bird held both a meaning for me and a message. "Liz?" "Hm?" "You know when Mykel is coming home?"
