My eyes felt tight and itchy in their sockets and when I caught my reflection in a dark screen I saw that the brown of my iris had vanished completely and was replaced by a glowing, unnatural sapphire color that didn't look human anymore. Alessia and Lucien were huddled over a thermal map near the shattered console and they were arguing about the fastest route to the central hub but their voices sounded slow and distorted to me, and the thumping of their hearts was so loud in my head that I had to step away just to breathe without feeling like I was being choked by the sound.

“And not just by me. There’s someone inside this clinic who doesn’t want you to remember. They erased Jonas’s footage. They altered his file. The bonnet covering the hair didn't make it any easier. Josephine had blue eyes, but there were two girls here with that eye color. God, please tell me she made it. We'd be leaving any moment. Inside it was a dark pair of custom-made round glass, with a gold edge cover that concealed the entire eyes. He smiled. They were his favorite types of glasses to wear, always adding a touch of sophistication to his appearance. He put it on and closed the suitcase. "Matteo, you and I know that I don't like being ignored," Priscilla warned. "Priscilla, I have no interest in entertaining your daddy issues, if Randall wanted you to know, he would have told you," Matteo stated broadly.
