Wings spread from its back, leathery and torn, blocking out what little light remains. This isn't a possessed human. This is a demon in its true form. "Malphas!" Pete's voice is filled with relief and reverence as he struggles to his feet. "Master, you came!" The demon—Malphas—surveys the chamber with those burning eyes, taking in the freed children, the interrupted ritual, Derek's broken form protecting me. His laughter shakes the walls.

My jaw clenched and I exhaled nothing less than the sound of a growl. Looking in my rearview mirror before getting out, I noticed the color of my eyes had changed to black. The demon had horns so huge that they were bigger than his head and curled twice. His eyes were glowing yellow and his body was dark violet with mysterious markings all over. Nearby, Marlin could see rotting corpses and skeletons of various races. Perhaps Marlin was used to the smell, but it did not smell as bad as it looked.

He turns away from me to fight off several demons that have circled around me, in my weakened state. I watch as he spins rapidly with his dark black wings extended and manages to knock most of them away and creating an opening. Max's majestic black wolf, Dom, slams through the opening, turns, and claws several demons' throats out, while his Beta Jason tears organs out of a few others.

The others cut through the water like jelly on their way towards her. Light reflected off the shiny rainbow green scales on the arm of one demon that made it to Vanora first. As it pushed itself out of the water, its large black bulbous eyes were trained on her and its grey razor sharp teeth were bared at her. Vanora took a step back and studied the fins on the top of its head and the side of its limbs. /So it's some kind of fish demon?/
