I kicked the trailer door open. The desert was a hellscape. Red flares bathed the dust in a bloody hue, reflecting off the polished chrome of the motorcycles that were swerving through the camp like sharks. I saw a Phantom fall, his bike sliding across the gravel in a shower of sparks. Before I could even think, I was running toward him. "Stay down, Esmeray!" Vulture’s voice boomed from somewhere to my left. He was behind a rusted truck, laying down cover fire. "Get back in the damn trailer!"

A massive, scaled body burst from beneath the surface, a desert wyrm. Its body shinned under the sun and its scales were pale gold and it had molten yellow eyes.
