She let out a long, slow sigh, her pretty face twisting into something ugly and vengeful. "Zayn," she whispered to the empty room. "You think because you’ve won this little game, I will praise you? Of course not. You will cry. You will regret humiliating me and my family." She picked up her phone, dialed a number she had hoped never to use. The line connected after two rings. "I have a job," Jane said, coldly, "I want Mandy Blackwood dead. I don’t care how it’s done. I want it to be something that leaves a permanent, crippling pain in Zayn Carrington’s heart. Make sure it happens. Unfailingly."

One of the staff members pushes them open, revealing a spacious lounge with a sitting area on one side and a pool table at its center. Two women are lounging on the couches with drinks in hand. Lysia is the first to notice me. She lowers her glass and tucks a curtain of blonde hair behind her ear, her icy blue eyes sweeping over me with curiosity. Beside her, Megan lounges comfortably against the armrest, her short brunette hair slightly mussed and her emerald gaze bright with amusement. Four men occupy the rest of the room. Three are gathered around the pool table while another sits comfortably on one of the sofas.

Estelle grinned at her, dragging her to go find Lucia. Afterwards, Brian came bearing gifts, along side his fiancé. Laura was so glad to see them. She beamed so happily when Brian introduced them. King commented on how Jane helped with the decors. “So good to see you Jane! You see, Brian is always talking about you. Every single time he’s running home to you. You look so pretty! Oh my!” Laura worded. Jane was a pretty black American, her hair was left full in a curly Afro. Laura resisted the urge from touching her hair.

I find a table in the very back corner, tucked behind a big stone pillar. It’s perfect. It’s dark. It’s invisible. I sit down and open my book—a worn copy of Theoretical Astrophysics. I hide the cover behind a paper bag. If people knew the creepy janitor was reading about black holes, they’d only find a new way to mock me. I take a bite of my apple, my eyes scanning the room. Across the hall, the Knights' table is a scream of noise and gold. They sit in the middle, lit up by the tall gothic windows. Alan Voss is at the head of the table, looking like a king carved out of ice and ink.

Joe clears his throat gently, then says to the young woman, “young Miss Jane, as you wished, Mister Smith has come to entertain you as a Companion for the afternoon while your father is in a meeting with Lotus Pond Entertainment. Please remember your manners.” Jane pulls away from me with a low but playful huff of complaint but offers me a somewhat dazzling smile. Her long locks of black hair frame her heart-shaped face, but it is her beautiful ice-blue eyes I find myself unable to look away from. They’re an unnatural hue, but I can’t tell if it is because of an illness or if she was merely born this way.

“Could you imagine how hard it would be to maintain in the current crisis? Hairdressers aren’t exactly taking appointments.” “She has a point,” a woman said. “And it would be a very talented hairdresser to get it that shade. Green and black,” she walked around Niarthen into Lyric’s line of sight. She was naked, and beautiful, and had two inches of darker blond regrowth showing with lighter ends. She looked up at Niarthen with more than casual interest and Lyric narrowed her eyes. “Incredible,” the woman murmured. “You can almost see the shimmer of scales beneath his skin.”

But I definitely did not eye-rape him. "I am so sorry." I mumbled. Is the universe against me or something? "I wasn't looking and-" Okay, maybe I did a little bit of eye-raping. I mean, who could blame me? He's gorgeous. He has sandy blonde hair with some brown highlights. His face is just... pure perfection. Then I realised something that made me frown. Something that made memories of him come back. His eyes were a shade of forest green. Forest freaking green. Ashton. Oh god. I'm not even kidding, I am going to cry.

Purple reminded them. Black looked at the laptop screen. “What, baby girl? Are we fighting?” “Just promise me you’ll flirt only with me. I will win this fight. We are going to win this fight.” “Only you, baby girl. I love you,” Black said. Purple stood up. “Your relationship is something else. Like a ghost. It gives me goosebumps.” Grey and Black laughed. “Purple’s bitter. You should tease Green now,” Grey said. Purple remembered the mark she had seen on Green at Blue’s condo, and she shook her head. “I can’t. Ew.”

Pete also played along in getting his alpha saved. “I know I would find you here!” Jane smirked. She has no problem with Lucas visiting Bonnie’s grave. She respects the fact that Lucas loved her. “I know you have missed her.” “Someone stole her corpse.” Lucas points Jane’s attention to the empty grave. “Oh, no!” Jane cried out as she moved closer to the grave to have a look. “This seems it happened not long ago.” She glanced around. Good thing she’s here. Lucas could use her help in finding who dug up her corpse. Before Lucas could even ask, Jane placed her hands on the sand. When she was about to have a flash of vision, she got zapped by a lightning blast from the sand.

She glanced at the bottom of the page where she saw that it was written by, Mariana Victain. “The Supreme Magus?” This got her intrigued to continue reading the entire excerpt. “The treasures of Immortalis are biologically engineered artefacts known as Black Liver and Silver Fangs.
