“I am indeed an annoying wolf. Yet I understand that the annoying wolf is so unsettling, isn’t it?” Terrence answered me as he climbed the stairs. “What should I do to this rabbit?” I asked then. “Accompany them until I get back,” he said. I shook my head a little strange. I just stared at those little rabbits who were already motionless. Kitty looked so enthusiastic about enjoying the poor rabbits. I waited for Terrence while enjoying my homemade milk. A few minutes later Terrence returned without wearing a t-shirt and wet hair. I spouted my milk with origin.

And some of them have spots and splashes of all three colors mixed with black speckles. I watch as they mingle and flirt with each other. They surely seem to live a carefree life in their happy little pond. It appears they are well cared for and aren't afraid of people like wild fish are. As I admire them, I see something stir to my left and when I realize what it is, my heart skips a beat. There, in the grass sits a black and white bunny rabbit. It resembles a tiny cow figurine I had a child! A reminiscent feeling of happy days gone by returns to me, warming my heart.

I began, lowering my voice like I was about to tell her a grand secret, "that a mother rabbit gives birth to at least five babies at a time?" Raya continued to cry, but I could tell she was listening. I pressed on. "And guess what?" I leaned in, my voice dropping even lower as if I was sharing something only I knew. "Each baby rabbit is a duplicate of the others they were born with." The sobbing slowed. Raya sniffled, lifting her big, tear-filled grayish-blue eyes to mine. Her lips trembled as she hiccupped. "Really?" she whispered. I nodded immediately, my face serious as I told the white lie.

The scent of the rabbits continues to taunt me, tempting me with the promise of nourishment. As I shut my eyes, I am immediately greeted by the rhythmic thumping and hopping sounds of rabbits. The familiar scent fills my nostrils, and I quickly realize that the alpha has generously provided me with live rabbits. With cautious excitement, I cautiously emerge from my cozy nest and take in the sight of countless rabbits scurrying around my newfound sanctuary. My heart leaps with joy, and I can't help but let out a delighted yip as I embark on the thrilling pursuit of food.

“Aviva got these rabbits. I got a few yesterday, but Mercy gave them away.” I frown. I was wondering what happened to the three rabbits and the squirrel Shosh snared during our trip yesterday. My eyes stay on Alpha Ryan, however, as he stands on the opposite side of the creek from us. Shosh can tell I’m tense and is acting accordingly, squaring her little shoulders and turning her expression to something unreadable and slightly bored, but Lora is giggling, swinging her bear around, and enthusiastically talking about her fairy house. Alpha Ryan nods along, his eyes occasionally flickering to mine.

I hold my aching side, bracing myself to keep going, run it off, when I notice two things at once. A few feet away, under the tall oak where Mari had been perched, there’s a white rabbit, upright on her haunches, staring at me, frozen in place. And my wolf isn’t fighting me for our skin. The rabbit’s tiny heart flutters under its smooth fur, racing. Its pink and white ears point skyward. My wolf notes the little critter, his mouth instinctively watering, but he dismisses her as quickly as he notices her.

The forest seemed devoid of life, the usual jarring sounds of birdsong replaced by an unsettling stillness. Doubt gnawed at me. "There's nothing here," I muttered, frustration creeping in. My ears twitched at the rustling of leaves from around the corner. It came from a shrub. I spun around, searching for any movement, any glint of an eye in the bushes. Suddenly, a blur of white erupted from behind a thick shrub. A cute white rabbit, its fur radiating, stood before me. Its large brown eyes locked with mine, holding a sense of curiosity and defiance, coupled with oblivion.

“Fuck you, Nyx.” “Oh, hush. You were always so dramatic.” Something flickers beside me. A shape that I recognize. Small and white, fading in and out of existence like rapid pulses. “Bubbles?” I whisper. The rabbit flickers into full form for a breath, her ears flattened, fur standing on end, eyes glowing faintly gold. Then she vanishes again. Nyxara rolls her eyes. “Oh, for the love of the old gods, stay still, sister. You’re giving me a headache.”

“Night gave way to day and the chill in the air warmed. Raven took her skirt and tucked it into her belt. She walked out leaving the door open to let out the chill. She grabbed her flat basket and headed to her garden made in a nestle of trees under a canopy of sunlight to flourish. Raven pulled at the cabbage heads, grabbed the shovel and dug up potatoes; she broke off the herbs and pulled up the carrots. Looking at her basket she worried she misjudged her harvest. It was already too full to carry easily. She stood up and dusted her knees off and then her hands. Bending over she noticed a slight movement in the brush.
