Natalia was at his side instantly, throwing her cloak over his shivering shoulders as the final, concussive boom of the flagship’s hull imploding echoed across the ruined harbor.

POV MADDISON "Ethan, Asher! Get your asses up to the bridge right now!" Caleb’s voice exploded through the cabin intercom, the usual smooth, psychological amusement completely stripped from his tone. "The central marine radar just picked up a massive, black-hull stealth frigate sitting dead in the water directly ahead of our navigation vector. They’ve just activated their targeting locks on our hull!" Ethan pulled out of me instantly, his face hardening into an expression of unyielding corporate malice. He buttoned his trousers with that terrifying, practiced efficiency, not even looking down as he wiped a stray bead of sweat from his forehead.

At first, I wondered if the siren was announcing our escape, or calling for backup. But then all the Mekrans froze and looked back towards the beach. The siren abruptly halted as one of the airships exploded. Salem had arrived.

A strong hand clapped him on the back drawing his attention forward. “Look, see there!” Dean said, pointing to the Black sails coming around the corner. Gavin's first reaction was to grab a hold of Dean for touching him but paused. Gavin’s eyes spotted the ghost-like ship gliding across the ocean. It was still as haunting as the first time he laid eyes on it. It was a ship from nightmares but it was stunning. He spotted her golden hair as the ship drew near. The doom in his stomach fading slightly. The Evening Star pulled up alongside the Morning Star day and night at a stand still.

Behind him, the Outcast Legion—wolves who could shift mid-air into specialized combat forms—poured over the cliffs like a waterfall of fur and steel. Jace disappeared into a shadow, reappearing on the deck of the flagship. Within seconds, the black smoke from the ship's funnel turned a sickly, glowing green. The "Blighted" steam began to eat through the iron pipes, turning the dreadnought into a self-destructing cage. From my high vantage point, I watched the "impenetrable" fleet crumble. He looked like a king. His skin was red from the steam, his clothes clinging to his frame, but his eyes were pure gold. "Silas, get the Omegas into the lower tunnels. Joshua, get behind me."

The echoes lowered their blades. The scarred woman looked toward me. “Fate has already started moving.” The b lood moon pulsed. A black line crossed its surface like a crack. Cassian stopped fighting. His expression turned hard. “That is not a warning.” Raiken came to my side. “What is it?” Cassian looked toward the eastern horizon. Ships appeared beneath the red light. Black sails. Silver wolf emblems. Thousands of them. At the centre sailed a vessel built from white bone.
