She hasn’t changed either—still has that cold fire in her eyes. “Still the blade girl?” She chuckles, walking over with a grin that’s all teeth and mischief. “You know me. Got a thing for sharp edges.” She pulls me into a tight hug. “Damn. You feel different. Stronger. There’s something deep in you now.” “Yeah. That’s exactly why I’m here.” I release her and turn to Maxie. “I’ve been tracking something. A black fog. It’s not just mist—it possesses people. Warps them into monsters. They’ve been behind the recent attacks.”
