Kathy's eyes widened as Ryder responded her with a sneezing nod. "I actually am. Do you think I could enter the house?" "Of course, dear! Come in, come in!" I let Ryder enter the gates of the inferno first, Kathy after him and Tommy the last. Then, when they were all inside, I leaned over, slid my hands under my wheelchair and pulled out a ball of black fur. I kissed the animal’s head and set it free, a wide grin adorning my face. She then raises her hand in the air, this time her palm flat. The wolves behind her let out collective growls and begin to sprint towards us.

Hearts stop beating, blood spills, stains my paws - color of spilled blood, fresh blood, and I want more. I can't stop drinking. I'll never be full; I'll never feel full again. I'm thirsty, burning up inside."

They looked confused, disoriented, but whole. "You did it," Zephyr said, cradling me against his chest. His heartbeat was strange—too fast, with an echo that shouldn't exist. "Did I?" I struggled to focus. "Or did I just make everything worse?" Before anyone could answer, every screen in the bell tower flickered to life. Director Frost's face appeared, smiling that cold smile I'd grown to hate. "Congratulations, Miss Blackwood. You've just successfully completed phase one of the experiment."

Silvi approached me with her hand over her mouth, she whispered, "Is he your stepbrother?" I looked at her with a frowning face, my lips pressed tightly together.
