Twin blades. Short, curved, mirror-bright daggers crossed against my sword. As I looked up, my heart froze.

Rage exploded inside me, over my dead body! A movement flashed from the corner of my vision; because I was distracted, I caught the move late; a hidden assassin emerged from the shadows. The blade in his hand glowed silver to stab me. I twisted around, but I was not fast enough. Pain exploded through my side. The silver blade plunged beneath my ribs, my roar shook the valley, and the assassin smiled. He didn’t look like a part of the Forgotten.

He whirled, instantly shifting into a fighting stance, but one of the attackers had already drawn a weapon—a short blade that gleamed with an unnatural blue light. Silver-infused steel. Everything seemed to slow down. I saw the blade arcing toward Leo's back as he grappled with the first attacker. I saw Enzo's eyes flutter open, confusion and fear crossing his battered face. I saw my own hand reaching out uselessly, too far away to help.

Ariana opened her eyes. She looked toward the nearest corrupted wolf. It was young. Far younger than the ancient warriors surrounding it. Its crimson eyes burned with hatred. Or perhaps... Pain. The big drow yanked on the chain and swung it to the side, sending the blade towards Otheric. The young drow ducked and the blade merely shattered the chimney he was hugging. Without much effort, Nymgos spun the blade around again, keeping Minos and Rei at a length's distance. Anybody who dared to move, Nymgos would toss the blade against them, and pull it away, and spin it up again.

SpeedBlade: I roar as I charge toward Lightning Storm, my sword in my hand. Running right up to the villain, I shove him back and prepare to strike him with my sword. However, as I am swinging my sword, I see out of the corner of my helmet three arrows directly in front of me. "Oh no," I say, seeing a tiny, blinking red light on them. It's too late. Even with my speed, I still can't get away in time. The arrows all explode. I scream once more as I'm knocked back, my sword falling out of my hand while I drop to the floor.
